So sick of pregnancy insomnia!

I seem incapable of sleeping for more than a few hours at night. I slept for maybe 2 hours tonight & now feel wide awake & just know I'm not going to get back to sleep for ages! If I do manage to sleep for more than 2 hours I'll wake up at bang on 4.30. I can sleep for Britain in the afternoon though & have shouted at DH several times when he's woken me up to ask what I want for dinner! Poor bloke!

I've not had the easiest start to this pregnancy. I've been nauseated almost 24-7 since 3dpo, absolutely exhausted until a few days ago when my new sleep pattern emerged & have been really dizzy. I have drugs to take when I get the nausea/dizziness but at just over 10 weeks that seems to be easing now.

Just needed to moan! Anyone else have bizarre sleeping patterns?

Well I was in bed trying to sleep at 10 (as I'd not been able to nap, even though I tried, so went to Zumba to tire me out) and still couldn't get comfy. So I'm now in the bath and will try again in a bit.

I only want some sleep, is that too much to ask?!

shinyblackgrape · 12/11/2012 23:46

I've bought some Bach resue remedy but a special night version. Recommended by the midwife. Hoping it works or I'll be asking for horse tranquillisers!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/11/2012 00:49

I've been asleep and now awake. Urgh

I've managed 7 minutes of sleep so far. Between 12:40 and 12:47. [sob].

How the hell do people manage this when they have more than one child?!

datingthedevil · 13/11/2012 01:28

Seven minutes, good going!! If only I could achieve that Sad. I wonder if I would sleep better if I didn't have the bloody SPD. I'm going to beg for an early induction. I can't face another month of this :(

Jojoba1986 · 13/11/2012 01:51

I'm still awake too! Beginning to feel a little sleepy so am going to turn the TV off & lie still & see what happens! At 10 weeks I'm already having to sleep with a pillow between my legs due to SPD! Sad

Wide awake again so of for a bath. At least I'm on mat leave so DH recommends just ignoring the time and sleeping as and when I can. So annoying though as loads I want to do before baby arrives and I'm shattered during the day!

FranTan · 13/11/2012 03:34

This is infuriating.

shinyblackgrape · 13/11/2012 03:37

I'm out the bath. Managed to doze off last night at 4am-ish so hoping for the same tonight.......

OverlyWordyHurdyGurdy · 13/11/2012 03:45

Hello wide awake people.

I've just had the most horrendous dream - started screaming 'in' it and was actually so upset that it woke me up and now I'm too awake/rattled to go back to slepp Confused.

I was having a shitty night anyway because I came down with my third cold in four weeks (!) yesterday and am achy and stuffy and generally uncomfortable anyway. Delightful.

OverlyWordyHurdyGurdy · 13/11/2012 03:46

Not sure what slepp is...

KFFOREVER · 13/11/2012 03:49

Shiny not long left for you to sleep going by last nights hours. Smile

Ive put a folded duvet on my bed to make it more comfy for my hips. Does it help? Nooooooo....

misslaughalot · 13/11/2012 03:50

39 weeks pregnant here and wide awake. Also have my 2nd cold in 2 weeks so can't breathe and have relocated to the sofa to let DP have some unbroken sleep. Looking forward to having this baby soon so I can get more rest!

OverlyWordyHurdyGurdy · 13/11/2012 04:00

Not sure how people cope with more than one...tomorrow's my non-work day at home with 2yo DS1. Knackering just to contemplate!

michnurse2002 · 26/05/2015 18:08

Hi all, I'm completely new to all this and noticed this feed about insomnia.
I am currently having a horrible time with this and wondered if anyone has any tips? I literally am awake all night, I just lay there with my eyes closed to rest my lids and hope I don't get bags! ;(

brokencrayons · 26/05/2015 19:32

Hi there, how far along are you. X

Tinx9231 · 29/09/2016 03:08

I am 22 weeks and have just started having really bad insomnia, i can sleep for about 2 hours and then im awake. Im still working 28 hours a week and finding it really hard at the moment and feel as though i wont be able to keep working this much even though i only have 8 weeks left until i leave 😕

HP07 · 29/09/2016 03:42

Hi, wide awake here at term + 9 days today :( wish I could say it was because I am going into labour but it because a. I haven't slept properly for the entire pregnancy b. I ate too much for dinner and still feel like I'm going to explode 5 hours later and c. I have to get up to wee every hour or two. :(

HP07 · 29/09/2016 03:43

Just realised this is a really old thread that has been restarted! Lol!

bumbleclat · 29/09/2016 04:43

Old thread! But still as true as ever. I'm 28+1 wks pregnant and have been awake since 2am am marking school books and dicking about on MN/FB

Sugarcoma · 29/09/2016 06:36

Ha I woke up at 4.30am, googled 'pregnancy insomnia', tried to go back to sleep, spent 1.5 hours choosing a Kylie Lip Kit (hate myself for finally giving in and getting one (err, two) but decided to cheer myself up because I'm so sleep deprived) then finally came on MN and this was the first thread I saw!

In other words... waves

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 29/09/2016 08:34

38 weeks and not sleeping, either. Have itchy stomach rash andcan't get comfortable at all, though the afternoon does seem to be easier.

Mamtobe4 · 26/01/2017 00:26

Have just found this group here, going out of my mind with this insomnia 😢😢,managing 1-2 hours a night tops and spend following day in a foggy, barely there state. Taken a little time off work in hope this will get me back on track but no luck so far 😢 . I know this group is from a while back so may get no replies but pleease tell me this insomnia goes post pregnancy? Obviously I know will be getting woken by baby a lot but tht seems better than being physically incapable of sleeping!x

MinnieNoush · 26/01/2017 21:26

I feel your pain. I'm 30 weeks now and haven't slept properly since before i even go a positive pregnancy test. I don't get more than about 20 minutes at a time and spend the entire night tossing and turning and I need to get up at least 5 or 6 times to pee.
