Breech at 35 weeks :(

hi all, my Baby has been head down from 30 weeks but I visited the midwife on Friday who informed me that the rascal has now turned and is breech! I am gutted as I wanted a water birth, (I didn't get one with my last) and had literally just finished writing my birth plan. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to naturally turn the baby? I have been going on all fours during the day, raising my hips and also bouncing on my birthing ball. I have an appointment at the hospital on tuesday to discuss possible c section if he doesn't turn and it is literally my worst nightmare. Please help! Any suggestions at all!

I'm in exactly the same situation I'm 36 on Tuesday and booked in for a scan to confirm breech.

Are they not going to try and turn?

My MW swears by something call moxibustion (sp) it's from the Chinese health stores...basically it's acupuncture combined with this cigar shaped charcoal that's burnt under your foot, the charcoal is continued at home. Sound very random but she's heard good success rates.

I'm going to try next week if my scan confirms breech.

Good luck

I was considering acupuncture as well if scan confirms on Tuesday. I definitely feel a lot of movement when I am on all fours so try that too! I am actually having a break from the all fours position to check mumsnet! Not to mention my husband keeping making jokes about that's how we got in this mess to begin with! Good luck to you, keep me informed as to what happens with you and if anything works to turn baby!

Ps, dont know if they will try to turn him, sounds scary :(

I'm going to get on all fours now lol!

I know I'm not keen on turning either apparently it's only a 50/50 chance of working...!

Will let you know how I get on - fingers crossed for you too!

DD was breech from 35-36 weeks. I spent a lot of time draped over my birthing ball and she turned round and stayed head-down until she was born.

miniandfloss · 12/11/2012 03:52

I had my breech confirmed on Friday by scan at 36 + 5 and now have a scary consultant appt tomorrow. I've. Also had a Very text book pregnancy and wanted a water birth at the mlu but looks like that's not going to happen. Have spent so many Hours over the past 3 weeks crawling, bouncing, exercises from spinning babies, stimulating reflexology points (sister is reflexologist) with no success.

They've booked me in for ecv tomorrow but apparently I can say no if I want. It's scary having to make a decision between 2 things you don't want!

Still praying for some natural turning and will keep fingers crossed for you!

Bellaboo123 · 13/11/2012 18:00

sarahc how did you get one today? LO have turned and is now head down yay! Although I'm now starting to get scared of the birth!!!

miniandfloss · 13/11/2012 19:34

Not so lucky for me went today also (now 37 + 2) breech and bum engaged plus starting to dilate so have been booked in for c section at 39 weeks as consultant was not happy to try turning as too engaged. She also said she doesn't think I'm going to make it to 39 weeks and have to go in at any small sign of labour eek! Quite nervous now!

Bellaboo123 · 13/11/2012 19:42

Eeek minifloss that makes it sound so real! Just think its for the lo's and your best...

Positive thinking! X

SarahC1985 · 13/11/2012 21:21

Hi bellaboo, he turned! So chuffed I almost cried, but yes, the dawning realisation that I now have to give birth has hit me....lol I am glad though, I had an epidural last time and I just wanted to be in the water this time so fingers crossed a pool is free!

@mini floss, sounds like things will happen really soon and that's great! at least you will have a quick labour and have your baby in your arms soon enough. Keep us updated! So exciting :)

Hi ladies i'm 33+5 and found out today baby is breech! They've said not to worry to much atm and i have a consultant appointment in 4 weeks when a decision will be made. They mentioned turning it which i'll be honest terrifies me more than birth, I've heard it's very painful and doesn't have a high success rate anyway. Getting worried though.

miniandfloss · 14/11/2012 22:01

Try not to worry, my baby turned from head down to breech at 34 weeks. I'm now 37+3 and have a c section booked. I saw a consultant yesterday who said basically she was not happy to turn as baby is already engaged and early labour has started. Even if they say they can turn the baby you can still say no if you are not comfortable with it and this was made very clear to me - I've spoken to a few different people who have had ecv's and it has been different for everyone. You've still got a few weeks for the baby to turn naturally so fingers crossed.

I wanted a mlu water birth so I've had to get my head round going to hospital and having a c section now but now I'm in this position I'm actually feeling ok with it all, it's the safest way to get the baby out and if anything I'm just now excited to meet them.

I'd just say go with your gut instinct on things and make sure your consultant fully discusses all the options with you as I had to ask for this to happen as they just assumed I'd have an ecv.

natmay27 · 15/11/2012 13:16

Hi all, my lo was breech the whole way through my pregnancy, i tried ecv (which wasnt pleasant), acupuncture, on all fours...everything! but she liked it the way she was and i had a planned c section at 10 days before due date! i just thought after all that time there must be a reason she is like that so let her stay put, she was absolutely fine and my c section was great!! so dont be put off by it, as long as baby is healthy who cares how you get them out! :)

miniandfloss · 20/11/2012 10:09

just an update i'm still hanging on in there had a few early labour scares but luckily has not developed, had my pre op assessments yesterday.c section booked for monday which is scary! and baby still enjoying the world the wrong way up! looking forward to getting rid of the reflux from having a little head butting my stomach 24/7!

hope the rest of you have managed to stay head down!

natmay27 · 23/11/2012 20:05

good luck miniandfloss :) just think you can look fab in your baby just born pics!

SarahC1985 · 27/11/2012 10:05

Hi all, baby is staying head down, in fact his head is firmly in my pelvis at this point which means I am getting zero sleep as I think every twinge is labour! This is my second and I think because I was 3 weeks early with my first that I feel I will go early this time, I'm 37 weeks on thurs! Sending positive thoughts your way ladies, either way, we'll all have gorgeous babies soon! Yay!

Oscar George born 26/11/12 6lb 13 oz by c section. Few bumps in the first week ended up back in with jaundice but home now and loving Oscar loads! Being breech means he spends a lot of time trying to put his legs above his head which is strange but apparently this will sort in a few weeks!

Good luck would love to hear your news

SarahC1985 · 06/12/2012 22:35
