I am 8 days overdue. I have lost my plug, a bit yesterday and a lot today. I have some pain but nothing notable. I have been walking loads all week, bouncing on a gym ball like a demented toddler, and doing the rocking pelvis thing the MW showed me.

Why wont it come out? Im booked in for induction on monday. But really want to go myself. Any advice?

Still pregnant :(

Felt sick this morning, food smells were turning me. But Im fine now and pretty starving even after eating! Still losing some of the plug but only a tiny bit. Having tightenings but no pain.

Have resigned myself to induction. Just spending today getting everything organised for going in!

I feel your pain wannabe!

I am 40 plus 7 and have had 2 sweeps; the midwife doesn't think labour is imminent. I am booked for an induction Thurs and suspect I'll be going that way. I can't have the pessaries due to previous c-section so it'll be straight onto syntoncin.

Really hope you go into labour tonight, good luck with everything and I'll watch this thread and be thinking of you.

Lots I had a CS with my first but they're still going to start with the pessary as I'm classed as low risk. It's weird that there's no national consensus on inductions.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 11/11/2012 15:33

What is the criteria for getting the pessary or going straight onto a drip?

I checked my notes and at my 2nd sweep on thurs I was 50% effaced and she said she got two fingers in.

Tbh I dont feel the induction was expained at all.

Good luck to you too lots! Hope you go before thurs! Im contemplating holding off until tues if I can. but I dont know if theres much point. This baby is just too comfy and I doubt one extra day will convince it to come out!

Stuntnun - i'm not sure why tbh, just going with it. Was your first CS planned or EM? I had induction last time - three days of pessaries which got me nowhere, then syntoncin which got me to 6cm and then DS became distressed so they did an EMCS....I also haemorraghed, don't know if that is relevant at all?

StuntNun · 11/11/2012 16:45

Lots I was induced with DS1 due to meconium in the waters but just went straight on to the drip as his heartbeat was irregular and ended up with a section due to ante-partum haemorrhage. I had a VBAC with DS2, again on the drip because they wanted him out quickly. At my last ante-natal appointment at term I was told they would induce me at 40+11 with a gel pessary and that I was classed as low-risk. Like WannaBe I haven't been given any information about what happens next, e.g. how many gels they will try, or what the next step will be. They haven't said whether my DH will be able to stay with me or not so I don't know what to do for childcare.

lots33 · 11/11/2012 16:49

Oh it's all such a pain isn't it....we are arranging childcare but hopefully won'tneed too much of it......our DS isn't used to being away from me (he'sjust 2) so I'm very anxious about that. I agree I find that they don't give info very well. I have been told 3pm Thurs but if no-one available/busy then they won't do anything until Friday in which case I will ask to come home......Stunt,when are you due to be induced?

StuntNun · 11/11/2012 19:32

I have another eight days so hopefully things will kick off on their own before that. Baby isn't in a great position, he seems to be oblique so he'll need to move a bit before anything happens.

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 12/11/2012 13:20

how did it go?

have you decided yet?

re:pessary/drip thing - you are better to get them to bgreak your waters than do any of those.
but if you are induced, it will be more painful.
you still have another 4 days now before you need to start worrying.
repeat "i am allowing you to do expectant management"

at the very most, they put you on a comfy couch thing with a monitor strapped on you for about half an hour and monitor what's happening.
every two days until you relent Wink

you will relax because you know nothing's wrong (and because it's half an hour, your BP is more likely to be normal)

nickelrocketgoBooooooom · 12/11/2012 13:22

and if you're not in labour yet, look for my live birth saga- there's loads of useful stuff in about expectant management.

Update...

I went into hospital on mon 12th. Had the pessary etc. At 3pm on tues 13th they broke my waters.

Sophia was born at 7.33pm :)

They had to use the vaccuum cup thing as she decided to arrive in a hurry and got a bit distressed, (one of the MWs got a bit trigger happy with the drip Hmm ) but shes here and shes perfect!

I hope all the others who were waiting got on ok!!
