Have just got back from hospital. I'm 38 weeks and was losing fluid not sure if amniotic or wee (sorry tmi) anyway all is fine and they said I'm having tightening a which I can't feel and the fluid is a very wet discharge. Plug been coming away all week and head is fully engaged. Anyway they did the examination and fluid is all still there she thinks so does this mean my cervix is dilated at all? Never thought to ask and it's probably a really stupid question but just wondered really.

Some people get a long way without feeling much or any pain - I dilated 1cm without noticing it. In my entirely unqualified opinion I would say that if you are, somewhere between 0-1cm is most likely. As your body is showing signs of action I wouldn't have thought you'd be clamped shut... but you never know.

I lost the plug a day or two before labour - it can come out weeks before you start though - whatever happens to you best wishes for your delivery!

Actually - and BTW I don't think it was a stupid question - if she checked the fluid by prodding your membranes, yes you will be slightly dilated.

Thanks :-) she just did a speculum and saw clearly that waters were still intact so on way home that got me thinking. Typically no movement all day as well and as soon as for there was kicking like mad. Kids eh. Still can't feel anything but I'm assured all is normal. Never had this with Ds.
