Only 6 weeks gone but dh is really playing down pg for fear of getting hopes up.

Completely agree but getting bit annoyed as keeps asking me if ms and other symptons are in my imagination! I wish.

This morning he asked me if I really needed to be taking folic acid! Bless.

How can I re-educate him and keep him involved without us falling out.

Was thinking of buying him a book? But all suggestions welcome

Hi!

Men do sometimes find it harder to relate but give him time Smile. How about signing him up (an yourself if not already) to those weekly pregnancy emails and read them together once a week to see how your baby is developing?

I'm probably not much help but can relate a bit but can only imagine its a totally different experience being the guy!

Good luck!

You may find that changes when you have your scan, it doesn?t seem to hit home to men till they see something visual. I remember when pg the first time, my dad telling me how much he wished they had had scans when my mum was pregnant with us as he would have found it much easier to bond before the birth if they had.

Take him to your booking appointment! Before my dp and I went to that he was very unsure about how my body was changing - I think the only thing he was interested in was my new bra size. Midwife calmly explained everything and he was fantastic after that!

it's really tough because i was on the other side of this, i was the one too scared to get excited.

if you can afford it can you book an early scan at around 9 weeks? this will reassure him and get him excited.

BBC 'The Human Body' series, episode 'Everyday Miracle' was on just after one of my pregnancies. Hubby was amazed at the physical changes that I'd gone through-beyond expanding to the size of a blimp Wink. If you can get a copy/find it online try watching it together?
