Scan schedules?

I know you get a scan at 12 weeks (which I had - but turned out to be 13+4 ) and then one at 20 weeks but I'm not sure after that?

We've booked a private scan at 17 weeks so will have had quite a few by that point (we also had an early private at 8 weeks...) but I'm not sure how many you get after 20 weeks?

The NHS site is a bit difficult to navigate (or it could well be Baby Brain) but if anyone could give me a timeline of official scans that would be great. Am sure it's in my notes but am at work at the moment.

None routinely, thats your lot unless a potential problem is picked up.

Yeah you only get 2 in total routinely. It sounds like the longest wait in history from 20 weeks but don't forget you'll be feeling movement around then which is more reassuring than the big nothing between 12 & 20 weeks!

I guess the risk is just so low after that point but if that's the case I suspect we'll end up opting for private scans at certain points. There's no way that I'll be able to go from 20 weeks until the birth without knowing all is still okay...

Once there's movement you won't feel the same need to check until baby has a quiet day

Yeah I think I'm going to be the sort of pregnant woman who pokes and prods every couple of hours to make sure he's still in there. ;)

Hot/cold drinks or high sugar/caffeine drinks. Dd2 responded to a bath ,dd3 responded to music.

You will have midwife checks which will include heart rate checks, listening into the heart. That should act as reasaurance

"Reassurance" honestly there is no excuse for my typing!

Yeah 20 weeks is the last unless you have problems but like others say you will be feeling them moving every day which is reassuring.

And believe me as strange as it may seem right now you will get tithe stage where you have no chance of ignoring their
Presence, as they hiccup, wiggle and bounce their way around your abdomen!

LOL thank you everyone. I hope by that point he's kicking like mad - I'm so paranoid that without reassurances I'll be constantly worried!

I've been booked a scan at 33 weeks and I don't have any complications, it may be down to hospital too, I'm at UCLH.

It depends on your hospital - I've got a 32 week scan booked in as well, but not for any particular reason. I think it's because King's is a research/teaching hospital.

I've had scans at 12, 20 and 28 weeks and have another booked in for 34 weeks because they think I have small babies.
