My bum...

...really hurts! It feels like my left him cheek is deeply bruised or something, is this some weird pregnancy thing or have I pulled a muscle/been kicked without realising?! It hurts to just walk up the stairs, bend or pick up my daughter. I'm 11 weeks today! I don't remember this last time...though that seems to be my catchphrase at the mo!

Help, ouch!

It could be your hips moving. I had this with dd, also in my left cheek. It made me want to poke it really hard and try to massage it but there was nothing I could do about it.

It came and went after dd was born too, ESP when I was carrying her on the sling. With this pg it has been more obvious hip pain.

Trapped nerve?

Isandri how would I know if it's a trapped nerve? Is there anything I can do?

If its a trapped nerve(or baby lying on nerve) it will be in a small area, fist sized or smaller. It will feel like it's either on the surface or just below and will be a sharp pain or tingling pain. It can also move as you move you leg. Im coming up to the end of my pregnancy but have been getting trapped nerves when the baby moves. When I get them the pain in the fleshy part of my bum will jump to my thigh if I move my leg. luckily for me if I move the baby the pain goes.

It is fist sized and does feel just under the surface, but it's more of a dull ache than sharp/tingling pain. It also doesn't move, it's very rooted in the one spot. Is 11 weeks far enough in to be experiencing the baby lying on anything? Ooh that's very dim!

Sounds like sciatica ................I had it and started in bum and then moved down the leg . Could be because baby is lying low in your back and on sciatic nerve . Can range from annoying (which sounds like it in your case ) to really painful . There is no time limit on it until baby moves ...mine lasted for about 3 weeks and i found that baths were really tho only things that helped. Check with your midwife .

I've had this problem associated with SPD. Try and get physio referral as soon as you can before it gets worse or try acupuncture. One session of acupuncture was really effective at ridding me of the deep muscular pain. Am now more aware of pelvic bones which seem to be misaligned and causing lots of pain. I think the muscles go into spasm and that can pull the pelvic bones out of alignment - best to get it sorted as soon as you can.
