Where's the weight going??!

Am 23 weeks and have apparently put on 10kg (I say apparently since I'm not convinced by the scales my doctor used today: they weighed DH heavier than he thinks he is but anyway). Was 57kg to begin with so am now 67kg.

This seems like a lot in any event (considering apparently it's a pound a week from now on?!), but I'm just confused. I have a decent sized bump (second baby) and my boobs have gone up four cup sizes :) (but they did this weeks ago and the weight has been increasing since then). Other than that I'm exactly the same size: I wear size 10 everything and only need maternity stuff to go over the bump - it's not at all tight on my bum/thighs/arms etc. Someone referred to me as 'petite' the other day!

I eat crazily healthily and exercise every single day without fail (40min exercise video and then pushing a toddler around for the rest of the day - no car).

First pregnancy I topped the scales at 72kg the day before I gave birth, but I was 63kg when I got pregnant so apparently I've already put on more by 23wks than I did my entire previous pregnancy...

Where's it going? I don't understand. Am I growing a lead balloon in there rather than a baby...??

I don't know. I'm 24 weeks and I've put on 12 so far. All bump. This is my first so I'm assuming that's normal. My doctor weighs me each check up ( live in the US) and says that's bang on. Are you worried about weight gain, because I don't think out should during pregnancy.

Extra blood, extra breast tissue, extra fat stores, amniotic fluid, placenta and the baby!! You are supposed to put on around 2.5 stone (just over 15kg) during your pregnancy.

Stop weighing yourself!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 26/10/2012 08:05

Yes, what fliss said too!!

I haven't weighed myself at all and haven't been weighed by docs/midwives/consultants. Don't weigh yourself, it just makes things worse, its obvious you feel good about yourself and take care of yourself, so ignore the rest. :)

You are eating healthily, exercising, and haven't changed in dress size other than the bump. Sounds great. What's the problem? Grin

I'm not weighing myself! I'm abroad and they insist upon weighing me and each time I'm shocked at how much the scale's going up!! I wouldn't have predicted anything like that gain from clothes etc..

I'd happily not be weighed (don't even have a set of scales at home) but it's standard protocol here for some reason...

What will happen if you refuse?

whatchagonna · 26/10/2012 21:00

Dunno. Lots of worried faces that the system is being corrupted probably. Am very tempted to though: being weighed every two weeks is starting to put me off eating....

I get weighed every trip to the doctor too. Doesn't bother me. Hey, I'm making a baby here!
