When did you tell colleagues you were pregnant?

I'm 15 weeks and have told a couple of colleagues about my pregnancy in confidence but haven't gone public yet. My boss knows and I do want to tell my co-workers but I'm worried it's too early.

This is my second pg, the first ended in mc at 11 weeks. I thought after the 12 week scan I'd be ready to go public but I'm worried something may have gone wrong since as I don't feel pg though never really had symptoms apart from tiredness and bigger boobs.

When did people tell colleagues their news?

I told most people at ten weeks, I loved the feeling ok bit I developed after 14 weeks, I finally felt human again. :) I'm defo not feeling as pregnant but am now developing a bump and heard the heartbeat at 16 week appointment. I'm now 17+4 and everyone and the dog knows.

I told them at 13 weeks but I felt like I had to as I had so many app in the early days, I would of held on until I was showing overwise but I dont like most of the people I work with. Do what feels right for you

I told my colleagues the day after my 12 week scan. My supervisor knew a few days after we found out though as I knew I would need time off for appointments or if I got bad morning sickness etc.

Much later for me. DD - 20 weeks and DS 20weeks as I'd not long started new jobs each time!

Even with DC3 I didn't tell them until about 16-18 weeks as I must've got pregnant as soon as I started back at work after maternity leave

I had to tell my boss in confidence at about 10 weeks as I was hauled off to a meeting for having so much time off sick, I got morning, noon and night constant vomiting. She was really nice about it but I didn't reveal the news generally until 15 weeks. I didn't know how to tell anyone so I emailed it!

After the 12-wk scan in most cases. I did tell my boss in confidence at 8 weeks with DD3, but that was because he and I were discussing recruitment requirements for the following year, and it was unfair not to tell him he'd need someone to cover my mat leave (especially as he was planning for me to train some of the new recruits). He kept it completely quiet until I was ready to tell (and was also very grateful that I'd warned him!).

I tod my boss last week who has since gone and told EVERYBODY. So about 7 weeks. Everytime i walk into a room everybody looks down at my belly,but says nothing as it was not me who told them.
Bit of a disaster really.

Well I work in a very small team (me and two other people, one of whom is my boss). I had to tell my boss at 8 weeks because I was going to San Francisco on business and if I was being sick a lot or too tired to go out for team meals etc she'd worry what was wrong. Also, for a slightly darker reason, if something had happened while I was away and I lost the baby, I wanted her to know what was happening - not just suddenly be dropped in it. She was great about it and promised to keep quiet. :)

I told my other colleague last week because she asked me outright lol. She knew I was off coffee and wine and had been at a two hour long doctor's appointment...she's not stupid! ;) So she asked and since DP and I's policy has been not to lie about it, I was honest. She was very pleased for us.

Waited until after my 20 week scan. This is my 5th child and I knew there would be lots of comments as part of my job is to give contraceptive advice to teenagers. Everyone was nice about it except my boss, who commented how inconvenient it was for him.

By mistake I told my boss only at 4 weeks! It was a surprise I was pregnant and the doctor thought about 10 weeks by my dates. Turns out my cycle had gone a bit crazy, and I am now about 6 weeks.

It's been a good thing though because I've been off sick and very weepy etc (see other thread about coping with feeling sick at work) and he's been great.

I'll thing about when to tell people officially - either after proper 3 month scan or 20 week scan.

5 weeks but only because I'm a nurse and sometimes have to care for people under an x-ray. Being a senior nurse there, it falls to the most senior to care for these patients so I felt it was only fair to explain to people why I could no longer expose myself and not just being lazy.

After a mmc at 10 weeks earlier this year I thought I'd wait until 16 weeks to tell people. My boss guessed the day of the 12 week scan but he was discreet.

However, when my colleagues started talking about pregnancy and babies and stuff I just thought 'I'm never going to get a better opportunity!' I was 14 weeks then. To be honest I was already in maternity trousers by then so I had to tell before people started giving me sideways looks...

4 weeks. Because I was an agency worker I thought I would be honest with my placement. My contract was terminate the next day

Today!! Had my 12 week scan this morning & told them all when I got in - couldn't wait! I am head of Dept in quite a small company and we all get on really well, so was really excited to tell them. I told my boss at about 7/8 weeks because I couldn't go to a work event due to pg - he was great and kept it quiet.

I told my team straight after my 12 week scan. I just showed them my photo, cue lots of shrieking and excitement! Lots of them had guessed due to me looking completely grey and drained for the previous few weeks. I had to tell my boss sooner as I was worried he was going to think I was being a bit weird. I'm usually really positive and on the ball but just dragging myself to my desk and sitting upright all day was hard enough during the first 12 weeks. I'm 21 weeks now and feeling fine.

I had to tell my 3 male bosses after I threw up on one of them at 6 weeks.

I also told them as I had a 50/50 chance of loss so wanted to give them a heads up if things didn't develop as they should.

Told family and best friends back home immediately (live offshore), and extended circle of friends here at 7 weeks (needed support if things went wrong) and announced it to UK family and friends at 12 weeks when we went home for our wedding party (6 months after the wedding) - thankfully I could still fit into my dress!

Poor you noisy is there anything you can do? Can't believe they can get away with that :(

I was in the same position when I was pregnant with DC1, working as agency staff and was really worried about telling them which is why I left it so late. Luckily my contract lasted until the month I was due but it was awful 'lying' to people.

Thanks for sharing all your experiences ladies, it's really helped. noisy how horrible that must have been, I didn't think that was legal.

I'm going to spill the beans next week.

When they asked if I'd had a boob job. 14 weeks.

At 12 weeks. The work Christmas dinner was a few days later and the fact that I wouldn't be drinking at it would be a dead giveaway, I figured I might as well go ahead and announce it. I had told my boss in confidebce at 10 weeks but only because he was planning recruitment for the department and I felt it was only fair to give him fair warning that he'd also need cover for my maternity leave.

Told my manager as soon as I found out every time because I was so ill. Told my staff at 10wks but went on to mc at 11wks. Next time told everyone at 14wks went to mc at 18wks.

Never said anything with ds till after 20wk scan but people weren't surprised when I told them.

I'm now 5wks and have old told direct family and close friends who I may need if it all goes wrong again.

It's a very personal choice.
