Empty sack at 12 weeks - what next?

Just had my first scan today, only for them to discover an empty placenta sack. They want me back next week and there is some bleeding, but not heavy.

I have no idea what to expect. Any helpful advice?

It is likely that the bleeding you have will become heavier and that a natural miscarriage will occur very soon. It will be much like a heavy, but normal period.
If not, the doctors will help this process along.
I'm sorry that your pregnancy has ended this way.

For me once I had started to bleed it gradually got heavier and took about 3 days to miscarriage naturally.I was really scared of it happening but both times it was the middle of the night and I had got up to go to the toilet. Stay at home or near to a bathroom. Have a hot water bottle as it is like mild contractions/strong period pains. For me everything came out in one loss of fluid and I flushed it away.I didn't have a scan afterwards on advice of NHS direct Dr.I did after my 1st one and found it really upsetting so was glad not to.Sorry...hope you are O.K.I had bleeding for about 3 weeks -at first with clots-afterwards then normal periods a month or so after that finished.
