High blood pressure/borderline PE first pg - now on dc2

I'm nearly 6 weeks with dc2. With DS I developed PIH at 36 weeks and they induced me at 38 weeks resulting in an emcs. My BP reduced about 8 weeks afterwards.
I haven't been to the doctor or midwife yet but am already paranoid that I feel swollen/tingly in my hands and feet (and had a bit of carpal tunnel pain last night).
Obviously I'll be going to the doc ASAP (prob Friday) but how likely are you to get high blood pressure in subsequent pgs and how early can it come on?

Bumping this for you as I'm interested in this too. I developed PIH around 35 weeks and was induced on due date due to protein in urine.
I'm now 16 weeks pg with DC2.
I've been given conflicting information. My MW said I'm less likely to get it (as both children are DH's and its more likely with a new partner). However my friend was told she was more likely to develop it again. I've also read it's more likely
I have been told I'll be seeing a consultant, but not until my due-date, which seems pointless!

Oh my BP went down about a week later but they did make me have an ECG before I was discharged!

Thanks Sneezy! I'm expecting to be put under consultant care for a few reasons (Previous Lletz, history of melanoma, hoping to have an elcs) so I hope I'll see them before my due date!
The conflicting info you've been given isn't great?

I'm 36+4 now, similar stories to above and completely normal so far. There is hope ladies!

Thank you so much Pseudo! I know my post sounds flippant, I'm trying not to tempt fate lol. It was sky-high last time, and I've been so worried all the way through. My teams have been so understanding and careful with me, and I really don't have long to go mow, so I just wanted to give you all some hope :)

I had it from 32weeks first time induced at 38.
Dd was born.2 years later and no problems at all, but she was born at 37 weeks

I had high bp last pregnancy so they have prescribed me a low dose of aspirin to take daily which apparently can help stabilise bp.

Accordingly to my very lovely GP pre-eclampsia is a lot more common in first pregnancies than second so I'm hoping I'll be ok this time round. 23 weeks and so far so good but last time it all started to go wrong from about 33 weeks so not out of the woods yet but keeping everything crossed!

I had PE with DS, which developed from around 33 weeks. I was put on a low dose of aspirin with DD, the PE didn't re-occur. As they have no idea whether it was the aspirin which stopped it re-occurring I'm on aspirin again for this pregnancy. Is there any high blood pressure in your family btw? I was told it was likely my mum and grandma having high blood pressure which caused my PE.

Yes both parents have high blood pressure and my maternal granddad did too. I am about 1.5 stones lighter(normal BMI) starting this pregnancy than my first which can only be a good thing.

Yes I two stone lighter with DD, that's why they didnt know whether if was the aspirin that stopped it or not. Good luck!

Hi I had PE with dd and induced at 37 weeks (she's now 9), subsequnetly I've developed whitecoat hypertension which means they'll never be able to get a good read off me (have had a 24 hour monitor done and never managed to get bp below 150/110 at the doctor!). Am on June board with you so probably similar to you have only seen my doctor once (no midwife yet) and the only advice they've given me is that I should buy a blood pressure monitor and keep a track myself!!! I've bought one from Amazon for about £20 and it's pretty good, you could give that a go?

I had Pre-eclampsia from 34 weeks (roughly) with ds1 and was induced at 38 weeks.

With ds2 I had it from 20 weeks, but was actually allowed to get to 40+4.

Wow - did being allowed to get that far surprise you? How did you feel?

Hi ladies - really useful thread ... I too had PE at 32 weeks with DD and ended up having an emergency C at 36 weeks after being admitted into the HDU. By then I was on quite a few blood pressure meds but still my pressure was through the roof and DD hadnt grown due to the placenta not working... horrid experience plus I had post natal PE also which meant I was on 17 tablets a day for a month or so after birth - NOT a situation I want to repeat!!! ... I am now 9w and expecting alot of prodding and poking over the coming trimesters - Joy! I had read somewhere there is a 12% chance of getting PE the first time and of those of us who had it, only a 10% chance of it happening again ... good odds in my book!

The second time, although it started much earlier it never got out of hand. Some days my protein would be high but the BP lowish, other days the BP rose but there was no protein. The baby never showed signs of distress.

Now on pregnancy #3 and will have lots more consultant monitoring, aspirin (don't think that was routinely given last time), etc, although it is still early days and I don't have it yet.

I had PE with DC1 from 30 weeks until I was induced at 37 weeks. I'm now 39+5 with DC2 and have had a completely textbook pregnancy.

I sailed through #2 with little symptoms. I was put on baby aspirin as it is supposed to help.

The little symptoms being protein + for a few weeks, consultant (I had completely consultant led care from early on (only saw midwife once & had appt every 6 weeks) said that many women get protein without it going on to be anything else. Mine was gone after a few appts. I had a BP scare, but that was more down to some stress at the end (possible worrying to be honest, as it was almost a week before baby was due to be delivered by section)
