Got flu and am feeling rubbish. Cannot stop coughing and being sick (flem on chest) and am aching like mad all over. Worried sick that the baby is suffering though all the coughing and retching etc.. Anyone any advice?

Coughing etc is unpleasant for you but really isn't going to harm the baby. Just make sure you drink plenty of water if you're being sick, and take paracetamol if you've got a high temperature. try and get as much rest as possible and try not to worry (easier said than done I know).

JUST BEEN TO DOCS. HE ADVISED STEAM INHALATION. WHAT DO I PUT IN THAT?

I think you can add vicks vapour ub to boiling water & inhale that. I had flu a few weeks back & ended up with paracetemol. The dr said that the fever would be more likely to harm teh baby than teh paracetemol would- if anyhtign was goingto harmit if yousee whatI mean. I'm glad I took it though as It did make me feel alot better, though its taken me about 3 weesk to fully get over it. think as long as you stick to the dose you're ok. HTH

Was up all night coughing like mad - dh bought me some menthol crystals to use with steam as advised by the doc and midwife but wasn't convinced that I should be using them - thought peppermint oil n stuff like that was a no-no. Haven't taken anything as yet and am feeling rotten!
