Movements in late pregnancy

I know that it's a myth that babies slow down in later pregnancy (am 38 weeks). But what about a change in the type of movements? LO doesn't kick much any more, but squirms more. I've noticed this particularly as she's begun to engage (and my ribs are getting a rest). I also have an anterior placenta so I'm wondering whether I'm shielded from the lighter kicks (though I still feel her squirming).

Saw MW on Friday and LO is fine. I mention the change in type of movements, she said as long as frequency hasn't changed, it's fine. Does this tally with what you think?

I think the same thing, am 35 weeks and baby still moves as much but it's more bum pushing out and the odd swipe of the leg and a lot of head wriggling low down.

I guess as the room in there gets less and less their movements will change but as log as the amount is the same I'd say that was ok.

I'm 37 weeks, and don't think DS2 has slowed down at all, but the type of movement has changed even though the daily pattern is the same (e.g. more in the evenings). I feel lots more big squirmy movements, but I only occasionally get a foot in the ribs these days.

I have an anterior placenta too, and I do think it confuses what you can feel. At one point I got so worried about lack of movement that I went in for monitoring - had a full scan and was hugely reassured to see DS2 kicking beautifully even though I couldn't feel a thing until he did something massive.

Anterior placenta is a bugger. Sometimes I'd freak out that I hadn't felt her for a while, but if I lay down I could see the movements where I couldn't necessarily feel them! Nuts!
