I'm in agony - is this thrush!?

I'm 35+3 and for the last week or so I have been very itchy all over my body (including my lady parts ) so Wednesday went for a blood test to rule out cholestasis, the results of which I won't get until next week.

However, yesterday and today, my lady parts have become excruciatingly itchy to the point that I can't put my legs together and I can't take anymore!

I've only ever had thrush once in my life and that was about 12 years ago so can't remember what that was like.

Does it sound like thrush? If so what can I put on it tonight until I can get to the pharmacy in the morning?

It could be thrush. If you've got any natural yogurt that you can smear over your sore bits then it might help and certainly won't hurt.

Any late-night pharmacies open near you? Best treatment in pregnancy is to use a single internal canesten pessary (without the applicator, push it just inside with your finger) plus the external cream for symptom relief. It can take 2-3 days for the symptoms to resolve completely but you should get some relief fairly quickly. (I'm a GP). Otherwise as suggested above natural yoghurt might help soothe it a bit, or if you don't have that try holding a cold wet flannel against it for a bit (don't rub, however tempting it is to itch!) If you had bloods taken to rule out cholestasis they shouldn't take as long as that to process - if you ring your midwife (fine to ring over the weekend as they will be based in the hospital) they'll be able to check the results for you, although equally if they had been abnormal they would likely have phoned you before now. x

There aren't any late night pharmacies in my area so have sent DH to tesco to get some yoghurt (and milk & eggs so it doesn't look too obvious lol!)

I'll certainly be phoning for my results tomorrow now!

Also, I work in a pharmacy and I'll definitely be more sympathetic to people with thrush from now on - it's a nightmare if this is how it feels!

Right I really need some help I really don't know what to do anymore. I got diagnosed or thrush Thursday (3days ago) and they gave me and canisten duo cream I did the insert cream and I've been putting on the eternal cream but when ever I do this it stings and is agonising, so I tryied using a cream called cetraben this seems to sooth but only when I am sitting still. I can't sleep as anytime I try and move it's agonising I can't walk or do anything the area outside is very red and sore and swollen I feel like this has got worst since I started using the canastin cream and the internal infection seems to still be there as I'm still getting runny white like discharge that offen smells I really don't know what to do I'm in agony can't move from my bed what can I do...!

Call the out of hours doctors? Our area you can get an appointment at a local clinic outside of working hours as an emergency. I'd press the "I'm pregnant and have funny smelling discharge" thing...

jessy it sounds like you are having some sort of allergic reaction to either the cream or pessary. I was prescribed some internal vaginal cream a few months ago and had a horrible reaction. Was really swollen and sore for about a week. If the discharge you are experiencing smells then it may not be thrush that you have. Could be bacterial vaginosis or something similar, as that also has similar symptoms to thrush. Ask your doctor to do a swab and send it for testing, that way you can be sure what it really is. The cream I was prescribed was for BV but once they had done a swab turns out it was thrush! Sometimes it's difficult to tell without testing.
