oven my best friend (if we still have such things) had her 3rd at 46 and is loving it. Easier in some ways, harder in others. Don't give up hope. I'm on DC2 at 42.5yrs, if all goes well. I'd have another if DH hadn't vowed to have snip day DC2 arrives. Fair enough, he'll be 44.

AFM we are in California!! Somehow it was relatively calm in the end. DD slept a solid six hours (think would have done more but didn't dim lights for 4 hours?!), we got to friend's house at 11 and all went to bed together at 2 and she slept til 5.15. Given she's up at 5.30 in UK sometimes and it was 1.15pm your time this was A MIRACLE to rival water-to-wine. Feel a lot better about whole trip now. Despite solid rain Shock.

Want enjoy family time so will catch up properly another time

BadMissM · 15/12/2012 18:32

Oven I'm 45 will be 46 by the time LO is born, my second, DD is nearly 14.

scarecrow Ooh, California!! Have fun!!!

OvenReady · 16/12/2012 14:50

Thanks ladies - I am inspired by you all! So glad I was pointed in the direction of this thread - I can show it to DH and say "see - we're all mad!!"

Will get Christmas out of the way, and new year, then see if we can get started again.

Don't know if any of you know - can I get extra help from the doctor since I am (a) over 40 and (b) have had two mc? I'm seeing my doctor this week (an appointment originally booked to tell her I was pregnant and get THAT ball rolling...) so I think I'll try to have a serious heart to heart with her. Something along the lines of "HELP ME PLEASE!!!"

I have become addicted to trying....no way I can stop now! Grin

Good luck to you all.
xxx

NewChoos · 16/12/2012 15:38

Welcome Calibee and ovenready
scarecrow hope you have a brilliant break.
Hope you're ok and ou manage to get a scan Jbrd
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, poor DS is still poorly and I have awful nausea.
I phoned the screening coordinator last week and explained I couldn't get a booking in appointment before Christmas and so was worried I wouldn't get a scan before 12 weeks and she has has booked me in for a scan on Thursday. I will be just under 10 weeks I think, I am guessing they will do another scan at 12 weeks for nuchal etc? I am wondering if misunderstood my dates, not sure why I have been booked so early although I did have consultant led care with DS due to GD.

JBrd · 16/12/2012 15:39

I think I'm in need of some handholding... Been spotting very lightly on and off, for the last week, but since Thursday, it has gradually increased more and more. It's still lighter than my period, but definitively no longer just spotting, and the blood is now much lighter colour. Also have backache and stomach cramps. No clots, though, as far as I can tell.
I've been talking to the EPU, and they have been really nice - am now booked in for a scan on Tuesday morning.

I'm trying to stay positive, but am so so worried.

BadMissM · 16/12/2012 16:06

Oh, JBrd, so sorry to hear that.....(crossing fingers toes and other extremities). At least you have talked to the EPU and there is some positive movement for a scan.... I've a couple of friends who bled quite badly and still went on to have lovely LOs.

Sending hugs and positive thoughts xxxx

BadMissM · 16/12/2012 16:08

NewChoos probably because you're under consultant led care. I had a scan last week at 8 weeks, and am having another at 12 weeks...I'm to be consultant-led care too...

CaliBee · 16/12/2012 16:24

Oh..jbrd you are really going through the mill. I will have everything possible that will cross crossed for you. xxxx

lotsofcheese · 16/12/2012 17:57

Holding your hand jbird & crossing everything for you xx

knottyhair · 16/12/2012 18:35

Thinking of you JBrd xxx

NewChoos · 16/12/2012 19:06

Holding your hand too Jbrd and wishing very hard for things to be ok for you.

NewChoos · 16/12/2012 19:09

BadmissM Thanks for your message. How much info did they give you following the scan? Did you get get risk factors for example? I am really sorry I seem to have missed your post about your scan. How lovely to see your baby and only another 4 weeks until you can see again :)

scarecrow22 · 16/12/2012 21:00

JBrd hand stretching across Atlantic Ocean. Very much hoping it is a good scan, but so sorry you have to have all this worry. Take time to be kind to yourself and keep yourself a little busy too so you have positive thoughts. We are here for you (me at funny times!)

knottyhair · 17/12/2012 05:50

Morning! Just popping on to say we're leaving in an hour for the hospital, hopefully will be holding her by lunchtime at the latest! Will update when I can but have an antique phone so it'll probably be later in the week when I'm home. Take care everyone, and really hope everything's OK JBrd xxx

somewherebecomingrain · 17/12/2012 08:11

Good luck knotty! Will be thinking of you.

Jbrd also thinking if you and praying everything turns out well.

Xxx

knickyknocks · 17/12/2012 08:35

knotty today's the day then! I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly for you and little one. Report back when you can. Looking forward to hearing your news - how exciting!
jbrd you poor thing. You've had a dreadful time. I'm holding your hand and hoping that the scan will show that things are still ok.

something no, I won't be having an ELCS unless anything changes it'll be vaginal birth. Had a very straightforward labour with DD (although she was taken to special care straightaway but that's a whole different story...) so am hoping for straightforward this time too.

AFM, well, it's gestational diabetes testing day. Sat in a hospital waiting area waiting for my 8.30 appointment though the pathology reception which is closed says it doesn't open til 9.00 Xmas Confused. Won't be impressed if I have to wait til 9.00 - I've already fasted for 12 hours and I'm flaming starving!! Counting down the hours til 11.00 when I can eat again!

BadMissM · 17/12/2012 09:58

Ooh knotty hope it's all wonderful xxxx
Newchoos at this stage, not a lot. They showed me the baby, told me it was properly implanted in the proper place, told me the approx gestation, and showed me the baby's heartbeat.
JBrd my thoughts are with you xxx
knickyknocks have they made you wait for 28 weeks for that? That's what they told me even though have had it before...

knickyknocks · 17/12/2012 12:42

badmissm yes, had to wait to 28 weeks to have the GTT test. All done now and have now eaten my way through a ridiculous amount of food. Fingers crossed it all comes back ok.
somewhere just realised I called you something in my previous post. Sorry my love! Obviously I was in a low blood sugar haze when I posted......

oven I went to the docs following 2 m/cs and went on to have a third whilst he was thinking of putting me in touch with a consultant. I remember having this conversation with the GP apologising profusely that I'd come to bother him and that at 40 I should just accept that not being able to conceive comes with the age territory. He couldn't have been lovelier. Referred me for blood tests, and was on the brink of referring me to a consultant when I fell pregnant. So all in all definitely worth going to see a GP.

eagleray · 17/12/2012 13:53

knotty good luck and hope all goes well
JBrd thinking of you and hope you have a good outcome for tomorrow

quick hello to everyone else - nearly 36 weeks now, got a cold and in a lot of pain when trying to lie down/turn over/walk around. Still lots to do though and one more week of work so just need to keep going!

Will try to catch up properly another time - lots of love to you all

scarecrow22 · 17/12/2012 16:37

Oh knotty good good luck. Am so thrilled for you you will meet DC so soon. Hope it goes smoothly and enjoy those magical first days.

Eagle are you next? Sorry you in pain. Is it SPD? Have you had referral to specialist women's Physio? If not insist. Cf an earlier post on doctor's notes if GP not co-operating.

Knicky and JBrd in different ways very good luck with test results. JBrd still very much here for you with hand holding.

:) at somethingbecomingrain...amazing what a difference a syllable can make: would have ruined whole poem.

Somewhere also so so hope all settling down with your mum and family and any treatment starting well.

Riverside we are still very much here for you, thinking of you a lot, and with no pressure missing your wisdom and humour.

We are in toddler jetlag purgatory: she is wide awake for three hours every night. Sat night started 12.30, last night 1.30. I calculate she'll be sleeping through by the day we fly home ;/ Upside is she is so utterly adorable and fun it is hard to be cross. DH's turn tonight to get up with her - just something we have to get on with. Bless her toddler heart she didn't ask to be dragged half way around world to a house with no kitchen and a half trained labradoodle (gorgeous!) which licks her face and has so fear chewed her rabbit (best friend, comforter, no 1 obsession), her milk cup including now broken spout, and her toothbrush! She still adores said dog so frankly they are well matched for good natured daftness :)

Ooooh knotty won't be able to stop thinking about you today Thanks

JBrd · 17/12/2012 17:11

knotty - hope it all went well and that you are enjoying gorgeous newborn cuddles!

Sorry for not more name checking, thanks everyone for their well wishes and handholding, it's much appreciated.

Bleeding has been getting heavier and heavier since yesterday, and the backache is now constant.
I dragged myself into work today in hope for some distraction - shouldn't have, it didn't work and I to leave mid-afternoon because I'm feeling like I've been run over by a truck Sad. Now dosed up on paracetamol, which is taking the edge off, but still feeling bleurgh.

I'm struggling more and more to believe that this will have a good outcome. Clinging on to all the stories of bad bleeds that have resulted in healthy babies (and there are so many more than I ever realised!), but every time I change my pad, I think surely I can't bleed this much and still be pregnant?! (Sorry for the tmi).
Dreading the scan tomorrow, at the same time I want to know as soon as possible.

NewChoos · 17/12/2012 19:41

knotty hope all went well.
Jbrd sorry you are having such a difficult time, fingers still firmly crossed for you.

OvenReady · 17/12/2012 20:43

Knotty - any news? How exciting!!

Jbrd - sorry to hear what's going on. Good luck - stay positive, hope it turns out ok at your scan.

Knicky - will have a good chat with doc on thursday. I think it's more common for older ladies to ttc, so I don't think she'll be surprised. Hopefully helpful.

Take care all of you
xxx

somewherebecomingrain · 18/12/2012 12:50

Knicky you are obv a natural at childbirth and it will be fine - easier than the first time.

Hope everyone ok. Ive been having a few ding dongs with dp about our
Future and if he perhaps needs to take a leetle break from his business and get a job before dc2 comes.

My mums illness has forced stuff to the surface I think.

On a lighter note We're watching homeland and It is quite stunning - just everything, relationships, our place in the world, relationship to authority, religion, what it means to survive.

Nobody chat back at me about the plot cause only on episode seven!!!!!!

My little boy has taken to watching Jamie's 14 minute meals with me, snuggled under my arm and I'll take that as a definition of heaven.

Bored to hell of pregnancy I know that's prob controversial but I just don't rate it in itself - baby kicking last night and I just felt a bit invaded! I'm not like that at all once they're out I'm a real attachment parenting type I let them sleep in the bed and like to leave childcare as late as
Poss. But I just can't get on with the physical experience of pregnancy. It's boring limiting anxious and wierd.

Moan over.

Hope everyone good. Can't wait to hear about baby knotty.

Eagle ray yes IT'S YOU NEXT!!!!!!!!!!! love it and I know you'll have some good stories to tell. Sorry your feeling ropes- my every every sympathy

Xxx
