Let's keep on chatting !
Awaiting to hear from you all.
Midget, how are you feeling after the sweep ?
Exexe, are you happy with the new kitchen ? Very glad to see you back on here.
Warm welcome to the only Dad we have on the thread, sorry I could not remember your name as I write this.
Have a lovely Monday. Pouring rain in Paris today.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BadMissM · 28/11/2012 19:38

Hpbp, take it you're in Paris then? That's where I had DD, 14 years ago, at the Hopital Franco-Britannique! (and Paris in the autumn-spring, it drizzles like mad!)

blueblackdye · 28/11/2012 20:22

Badmiss, welcome to this brilliant thread, I had so much support, laugh, moan... I think I even have friends now ! I had my second baby 4 months ago and just can't leave. Congrats on the pg, take it easy for the move, have you planned a spare room for baby already ?
I am actually French and DH's work took us from Paris to London. It has been 5 years now since we moved to the UK. But I went back to Paris to give birth for my 2 DC !

BadMissM · 29/11/2012 12:27

blueblackdye, thanks! I am back in the UK as well. DH1 was French, and I lived there for 9 years, then came back with DD. I'm English, French, Belgian, allsorts! DH2 is very English! That said, I have his consent for a bilingual baby!

Luckily new house has spare room for baby, right next door to ours! I'm still packing (though not lifting). Think it's going to be a slow one!!!

One thing I really miss about France is the medical care....was also quite tempted to run back to Paris for the birth Smile, but as I no longer have a mutuelle, might be hard!

blueblackdye · 29/11/2012 12:50

I know, I paid for a mutuelle to be able to give birth in a private clinic, it s worth the money, my own room, my own osbetrician, 5 days in the clinic with MW and nurses. Plus my Mum lives in Paris so she looks after me while I take care of the DCs. My siblings are in Paris too, I feel less isolated here than in London although I have good friends. For DS, I came back to Patis 2 weeks before due date, had all medical appointments in London and had only 2 appontments with my obsterician. For DD, I came back a month earlier so that DS could get used to be with my Mum and vice versa. I guess I was lucky to have straight forward pgs.
Taking DD for her 4 months jabs now... Wish me luck !

BadMissM · 29/11/2012 13:07

blueblackdye If I hadn't lost my job a few months ago, would have seriously considered it! My family all in London so if local hospital are as bad as I've heard, might run off to London instead!

Here we are quite remote, so only one hospital near, the one a bit further has a public enquiry into its maternity services, and the next one (30+ miles) is abysmal... There's not much choice in the middle of nowhere. Quite different to London!

I do miss France, and my friends and family, but do try to go as often as I can. Thing I miss the most is speaking French, hardly ever do it here lately.

DD is nearly 14, so she won't take too much looking after (I hope). She is fiercely pretending she's not French atm. Jabs...what joy! Hope she's OK! xxx

somewherebecomingrain · 29/11/2012 14:08

riverside so so sorry about your mum. How are you bearing up?

I'm having tonnes of kicking. The LO startles at loud noise - anyone else notice this?

Hello badmissm I speak French a bit u can try some on me if u want

Xxx

scarecrow22 · 29/11/2012 15:16

Nous pouvons parler en Francais si vous preferiez (c'est plus que 20 ans depuis que j'aurais besoin de m'inquieter de ma grammaire!)

Okay, maybe not. Auto- correct drives me nuts enough in English!

blueblackdye · 29/11/2012 16:18

Scarecrow, votre francais est tres bon, aps 20 ans, vous avez de beaux restes. Isn't it lovely to feel baby movements ? i miss that a lot.
Badmiss, when I get back, we can call each other, I need to refresh my English and you can speak French to me. Shame you are remote otherwise we could have planned coffee now and then. I am in NW London. I had really good care at UCLH even if I gave birth in Paris.
My little DD is 4 months today, had her jabs, 64cm and 6.535kg, she is doing really well, I love her fat feet ! Could eat them !
Baked 2 cakes for DS last day at French school tomorrow.
Take care every one. And Enjoy.

BadMissM · 29/11/2012 16:51

scarecrow22 I can never put auto-correct on my phone as it has an absolute fit when I change languages to text! Comme j'ai un clavier anglais, c'est aussi archi-difficile de taper en francais, je n'ai pas les accents ni les symboles!

blueblackdye that would be great! I'm originally from North London, pity am now further away. My mother just had her hip replaced at UCLH and she said that they were brilliant.

Your DD sounds gorgeous, they are so lovely when they are tiny!
My DD is stroppily refusing to be French. I've threatened to send her to live with her Aunt and Uncle for a year.Either that or I put her on the Eurostar with a brown label on like Paddington Bear, saying 'please make this child speak French'. She's at an International School, but makes no difference! I think a year back home would do her good! Smile

Lovely to chat to all of you!

eagleray · 29/11/2012 18:51

Riverside - really, really sorry to hear the bad news about your poor mum. Glad to hear you have DH and the baby to look after you during this terrible time. I lost my dad in the summer and it was an awful time. Harder to cope with in some ways due to being pregnant, but the baby did give me something else to focus on, and Dad died knowing I was having a little girl. Sending you big hugs and thinking of you x

We seem to have a sudden intake of newcomers! Welcome to BadMissM, JBrd, NewChoos and hello again to Nana. Nana - I think you are sat very close to me in the line of ladies who are next!

BlueBlackDye - hope your preparations for London are going well, and that the relocation goes smoothly. So cute re Anastasia's feet! Baby Eagle's feet made a rather prominent appearance on the 4d scan - she likes showing them off!

This week, I have continued to tick things off on my spreadsheet of things to do/buy. Collected pram yesterday and also went to Primark to buy some fairly shameful looking garments for pre/post birth - giant granny pants, giant button front nightshirt and the biggest dressing gown you have seen in your life! Not exactly cheering prospect wearing them, but have earned a tick for the spreadsheet...

Tonight I have bought some building materials ready for the builder tomorrow who is finishing off the baby's room (the lucky thing has been allocated the master bedroom so it's taking some doing to get it decorated).

33 weeks tomorrow, and still can't quite believe this is all happening to me - can't wait to finish work so that I can spend the last few weeks pottering and getting everything ready.

Hello and warm wishes to everyone else - hope you are all in good health and looking forward to the end of the week.

ScubaSarah · 29/11/2012 19:21

Hello!
I'm 39, 40 in April and just got my first BFP so now excited and terrified in equal measure. I'm not sure if I 'qualify' for this thread but I figure I'm pretty much there if you'll all have me Grin

eagleray · 29/11/2012 19:26

Hello and welcome ScubaSarah! Being 40 next year more than qualifies you to join the thread ;-) and here you will find lots of advice, support and general old lady chatter! Congratulations on your BFP!

BadMissM · 29/11/2012 21:14

Lovely to be here! Smile

scarecrow22 · 29/11/2012 22:10

Big Hello to BadMiss and Scuba - you v welcome and as eagle says of course you qualify.

JBrd do hope sickness at bay., or much less aggressive than last time. Does rest help? Take care.

Riverside, my thoughts still very much with you and your family. You especially take care of yourself and your little baby.

JBrd · 29/11/2012 22:28

scarecrow thank you! I'm ok at the moment, no sickness yet! Just had a few moments at work today where I felt a bit queasy, but nothing major. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Last time, I was unemployed during my first trimester, which was excellent timing - I could just spend the day in bed when I felt rough. Don't have this luxury this time...

Welcome, ScubaSarah and BadMiss! I also just got my BFP last week, we're probably about the same stage. Have you calculated your due date yet?

Lots of French speakers here Smile! I'm Swiss, but from the German part, I don't speak French apart from a few school snippets. Been living in the UK for 15 years, DH is British. Trying to raise DS bilingually, which is actually a lot harder than I imagined it! I have to be very conscientious to keep speaking German with him, when we're with English family and friends, and the constant switching languages is very tiring.

BadMissM · 29/11/2012 22:55

JBrd think mine is July sometime, though not had proper calculation yet.

Have tried to bring up DD as bilingual, as she's half English-half French. Was easier when in France as I spoke English to her. Since we've been back in the UK she doesn't take well to me being the French speaker....

Still, am going to try my best with new sproglet....even though it'll be 100% English really.

ScubaSarah · 30/11/2012 08:49

Thanks for the welcome ladies!!
JBrd - I'm due sometime between July 22 (based on 'normal' period cycle0 and Aug 1st (based on my crude maths and weird 38 day cycle)
Thinking about getting a 7 week scan as my last period was shorter / lighter so I guess I could be a month further on but no symptoms til about 3 days before AF was due this time? Now just the worlds most sore boobs and really picky about food :-/

knickyknocks · 30/11/2012 11:11

Firstly river please forgive my late message about your mum, but I'm so terribly sorry to hear your news. I too know how tough it is, my darling dad passed away about 9 years ago. You must be feeling numb from it all, I'm sending a huge virtual hug. It sounds as if your mum had gone through an awful lot, and as awful as your news is, thank god she doesn't need to go through any more invasive procedures. Thinking of you.
scubasarah welcome to the thread and congrats on the BFP! Those first 12 weeks can be tough going. I'll keep my fingers crossed that any morning sickness doesn't hang round too long.

jbrd I remember you from the 40+ conception thread! Congratulations and lovely to see you here!
Welcome to badmissm, newchoos and nana too! Lovely to see so many new ladies!

eagle can't believe you're 33 weeks now. It must be all be getting a little more real now! When are you finishing work? Aahhh...the giant granny pants - and who said that this business doesn't make you feel sexy (errr...I think most of us....Grin)
somewhere can't believe you're still getting sickness you poor thing. Bloody hell, hope it buggers off soon. I think the tiredness doesn't help, I seem to start feeling what feels like the old MS days when I'm tired. Yuck. Don't want to go back there again.

AFM, am now 25 weeks. Was due to go and see Madness tomorrow night, but have thought better of it. Really sad as would have loved to have seen them, though have seen them a few times before - it's just that last weekend I went out and was so flipping tired the next day that I felt wrecked. DH is taking 3 year old DD to Nanny's instead, and so I'll have all tomorrow (including the night) and a bit of Sunday to myself. I'm thinking long hot bath, trashy magazines, meal for one (which I don't have to share with a toddler), chocolate on the sofa and box set of some sort, then a lie in on Sunday!......thinking on it maybe I'm not so sad to be missing the concert after all!!Grin

Waves to knotty, midget, blueblackdye, scarecrow, lotsofcheese

somewherebecomingrain · 30/11/2012 11:56

Knicky that sounds DIVINE!!!!!

knottyhair · 30/11/2012 14:28

Scarecrow, hope your cold is better and your DD sounds lovely! BadMissM, welcome, and sorry to hear about your pregnancies and your stillbirth. Hope it all goes well for you this time. 14 years! I thought I had a big age gap at nearly 9 years! Hope your move goes OK. Blueblack, your little girl sounds beautiful. Love the idea of fat feet, I used to blow raspberries on DS's. Eagle, yup, also going down the big pant route, I figured they'd be more comfy after the CS. ScubaSarah, welcome! Fingers crossed you stay MS free. KnickyKnocks, I agree with Somewhere, your weekend sounds great, enjoy!

Well jealous of the bi/tri linguistics going on! I only have schoolgirl french & spanish, and have picked up a tiny bit of German as we go to Austria every year to visit Austrian MIL.

Can't believe it'll be 2 weeks on Monday until my ELCS (17 sleeps!). New sofa gets delivered tomorrow ready to be covered in baby vom and we're going to start putting some Christmas bits up over the weekend, although not the tree until the weekend after. My lovely friend has just dropped off a gorgeous highchair and 2 bouncy chairs, and he's also given us a couple of stairgates for later on. We've been so lucky, people have lent/given us so much stuff.

Hope you all have a good weekend xx

scarecrow22 · 30/11/2012 18:01

Finally, a night's sleep without DD struggling to breathe or in pain, AND a whole day with no MS. Hallellujiah!!
Perhaps being a worry-bug but shouldn't I be feeling LO moving by now? (19+9/40). Funnily was bit worried this morning (reading about somewhere's LO kicking and moving so enchanted and then the nagging worry set in) - then might have felt a small fluttering turn or something when DD having a bonus nap on my cheat after her real sleep (bliss). But no obviously discernible movement. Now a little guilty I'm not thinking about him/her more....
Okay, worry shared. Off to in laws this weekend (small sigh), then scan Thurs and I guess I'll know for sure :)
Will prob return for a sanity check when up north ;) - until then lovely weekends all. Especially knicky's divine home-retreat.

scarecrow22 · 30/11/2012 18:02

19+5/40, that is

somewherebecomingrain · 30/11/2012 19:19

Scarecrow I was feeling EXACTLY same way at 19 weeks - two weeks makes a bug diff. Also my LO goes still for days as did my ds but do tell us your worries xxxx

somewherebecomingrain · 30/11/2012 19:19

Big not bug

scarecrow22 · 30/11/2012 20:43

Thank you somewhere - am (strangely) very reassured.
Also like you DD was not very kicky/moved last time. I guess I just did t have a comparison!
Actually I went for a 36/38 wk or similar checkast time an asked how often I should feel baby move. They asked how long it was since I'd felt mine and I said "oh, 4 days, maybe 5" - the MW almost ha an apoplectic fit!! I did not get extra marks for not making a fuss, just a stern ticking off ;)
Glad you are enjoying LO moving. How amazing.
