Sweeping is healthy during pregnancy. There are different types of exercises through which we can keep ourself healthy.

nananaps · 27/11/2012 12:56

Hello every one!

Thought this might be the place for me as i am aged 42 and 30 weeks pregnant!

I havent read the complete thread to meet you all yet, but thought i would pop in and say hi Smile.

I say aged 42, but i feel about 90 and i am aching in places i never thought exsisted in my body!
Not complaining though as i am nearing the end now Grin

knottyhair · 27/11/2012 13:49

Welcome nananaps, and congratulations! I'm 44 going on 84, and know exactly what you mean about the aches. I'm 36 wks due for ELCS on 17/12. I've already got an 8 year old DS, this pregnancy was a massive shock complete surprise but now really happy to be having a little girl Smile. Is this your first?

NewChoos · 27/11/2012 13:58

Hi,
I'm 40 and about 6 weeks pregnant, already have DS 20mo. I had an early loss in August and so not getting too hopeful at this stage - in fact have not informed MW yet. Pondering asking for an early scan. I am putting off the booking in process in some ways as I don't want to be swept up in the process until I am further along but not sure this is the right thing to do!

knottyhair · 27/11/2012 14:45

Welcome NewChoos, Sorry to hear about your MC, and fingers crossed everything goes well for you this time. Hopefully hear more from you on this thread x

NewChoos · 27/11/2012 14:50

Thank you knottyhair - not read all thread, attempted to but tiredness and toddler not conducive...

somewherebecomingrain · 27/11/2012 15:51

hello nananaps and newchoos.

newchoos its such an anxious time I am crossing everything that you have a sticky one. There is everything to hope for.

knotty that is so sweet that he cries to 'you are my sunshine'
we played Sugababes Soul Song and Down to the River to Pray (from the soundtrack of the movie O Brother Where Art Thou) to my DS in the womb and I think they do stir him up a bit (they were supposed to help him sleep!).

I am over halfway through... 20+5 and 21 weeks by scan. hopefully c-section at 39 weeks which means... 18 weeks to go! Counting down avidly.

but knotty - something like 18 DAYS for you!

xx

JBrd · 27/11/2012 15:58

Hi nananaps and NewChoos - I'm a fellow newcomer, too, only joined yesterday. Sorry to hear about your loss, New, fingers crossed for you that this will be a sticky bean!

I'm 40, with an 18-month old DS and just under 4 weeks pregnant. Currently in the Hmm stage... Very happy, it was planned and very very much wanted, but there are some issues (apart from my age!) - just spent ages at my GP this morning because I need a referral for a consultant.
I had a pulmonary embolism in January, which means that I will be at increased risk for another blood clot in pregnancy. So I will have to have clexane injections until I give birth. Naively, I thought the GP could just write me a prescription and it will be then all reviewed by the consultant again, but no. Left the GP empty-handed with the assurance he would call the consultant's secretary to make sure I get seen asap (the usual 2-3 week waiting time might just about push me into the Christmas shutdown otherwise!). Great. So now I'm none the wiser. Thing is, we have just booked our flights to Germany for Christmas, and I would feel a lot happier if I had the Clexane on board by then. Ah well...
On a more positive note, I did notify the midwives that I need a booking in appointment.

somewherebecomingrain · 27/11/2012 16:44

just a quick moan.

i take iron supplements and feel great, but then i feel sick. so i stop taking them. i stop feeling sick, but can't get out of bed. i take iron supplements and feel great. but then i feel sick.... round and round in circles.

jbrd i'm sorry to hear that - i have seen gps move very fast and i hope this happens this time. Also the NHS does tend to move fast on pregnancy stuff. is the risk lower at this early stage? At any rate, I say call and chase your GP and diplomatically keep the pressure up if there is any sign of delay.

xx

Siri1 · 27/11/2012 17:27

Hi somewhere I was on mega-iron as it was twins but I felt soooo sick and was sure there was an iron stopper up my backside (constipation does not do it justice) that I started alternate days of mega iron and pregnacare. That did help in many ways!

Siri1 · 27/11/2012 17:32

Am a bit fed up as went for 1st proper antenatal appointment today expecting a dating scan (and pictures) to be told that the one I had last week at the EPU would be used. The didn't do any printouts at the one last week... I think my sad face got to them and the extremely kind nurse took pity on me and booked me in for one next week HURRAH! Smile
Ah I felt all wa and fuzzy towards the whole of the NHS!

Siri1 · 27/11/2012 17:33

Warm and fuzzy
(darned phone keyboard)

lotsofcheese · 27/11/2012 17:39

Welcome to:

newchoos I didn't book in until 11 weeks as I'd had 2 m/c. Even then, it felt weird!

nananaps lovely you've joined the thread, I remember your original thread, it's been a real journey for you.

JBrd I hope the NHS systems move quickly for you. You'll be wanting to start on the Clexane ASAP. Here's hoping it's a short wait for you.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm just tired & counting down until the amnio on Monday. Also counting down until the holidays at Xmas - looking forward to more relaxing mornings - as opposed to getting a toddler out by 8.15. Can't wait!!!!

Blundermum · 27/11/2012 20:27

Its my 16 week check tomorrow...excited about hearing the heartbeat for the first time.
Not quite so excited about the bloods though Hmm
Mind you, if I remember rightly compared to childbirth, its all a walk in the park so I'd better man-up!

blueblackdye · 27/11/2012 20:31

It is very nice to see lots of new joiners, hope all goes well for you.
Newchoos, I hear you, it is hard to enjoy the pg after mc, it took me 15 weeks into my first pg to relax after an empty sac and early mmc, but I am 41 now and blessed with 2 beautiful and healthy DC, 4yo and 18wo. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Nananaps, 10 weeks to go ! How are you feeling apart from tiredness ? Have you been told about induction at 39 weeks as most of us have ?
Somewhere, I suffer from beta thalassemia, had pregnacare tablets from beginning of pg and my iron level was very good throughout the whole pg, MW said my (healthy?) diet might have helped too, I don't particularly pay attention to my diet, I just try to have a bit of every thing, carbs, veggies, fish, red meat maybe once a week.
Knotty, I can't believe you are the next graduate, I remember when you joined, time flies, we are not getting younger :) it is so exciting, a little girl in a few weeks, this is the most precious xmas present ever ! Can't wait to welcome you on the other thread.

BTW, it is HPBP here, just changed my nick name, to go with the hair dye I am having on Friday... New baby, new Mum, new Me !

blueblackdye · 27/11/2012 20:37

Cheese, don't worry too much forthe amnio on Mon, everything will be ok.
Siri, so you get to see the little bean again next week ! Houray
Blunder, I remember how anxious I felt every time MW was checking heartbeat. For DS, I had a moment of panic when the medical student could not find it although I felt kickings seconds before, but then I had an extra scan, and of course, everything was fine. And MY heart beated again...

riversidelibrary · 28/11/2012 12:29

I just wanted to update about my Mum, so I can start to move on.

Her triple bypass op on Thursday went badly, in recovery she suffered a cardiac arrest, they managed to revive her and she underwent a second op to stabilise her heart. The doctors said they would keep her sedated for at least 24 hours to give her heart time to recover.

On Friday there was a clot in her leg and she underwent a four op to save the leg, but this weakened her further. On Saturday her lower bowel failed, and then her kidneys, by Sunday only the machines were keeping her alive.

On Monday they told us that there was no longer any brain activity. My father, DH and I were together with her when they switched off the machines and she passed away immediately, very peacefully.

The only consolation is that she was never conscious after the first op, so she was never in any pain and oblivous to the terrible situation that she was in.

DH has been wonderful looking after us and the LO is a light at the end of the tunnel, kicking away as normal, keeping me sane.

knottyhair · 28/11/2012 13:00

Oh Riverside, I'm so sorry about your mum my love. Lots of love to you and your family xxx

blueblackdye · 28/11/2012 14:26

Riverside, my thoughts are with you and your family, your Mum is in peace now and she remains in your heart, take care of yourself. Xxxxx

JBrd · 28/11/2012 15:06

Riverside - my heart goes out to you and your family, wishing you strength in this difficult time. Take care of yourself, this is a lot to have to deal with.

I was in exactly the same situation when I was pregnant with DS two years ago - feel free to pm me if you want to.

scarecrow22 · 28/11/2012 17:38

Riverside thank you for updating us all as we have been thinking of you so much. I too am so sorry for your loss. I am glad your mum never suffered and that you and your dad were there at the end and that DH has been such a wonderful support. I find moments like this reassure me that I have a good loving strong family to move on with and make up the future. I am sure your mum will have died more at ease and happy knowing in her heart you had such good support and the joy of not one but soon two DCs.
Do keep talking to us about her if it helps, or come and listen to our inane chatter if you prefer. We are here for you.

scarecrow22 · 28/11/2012 17:50

Welcome to JBrd, nananaps and newchoos - it's lovely this thread is gathering a life of its own and selfishly makes me feel I'm making progress with LO when I feel I'm getting to me an old-timer on here ;) These can be worrying weeks, but focus on as much sleep and good food as you need, and the fact that stats are still all on your side!

somewhere sorry you still struggling with nausea and exhaustion. My nausea gradually lessening - actually only once or twice a day now, and for shorter times. I've got cold now and DD has horrid cold which last night turned into ear infection. DH has just got back from a work trip to Poland and just resisted crumpling on floor in a heap of red eyes, snot and tiredness...in fact just having him home big comfort and he's been gracious enough to take over entertaining slightly cooped up DD.

On happy note we had a couple of funny episodes. At silly o'clock this morning handed DD milk in a cup from by bed, she took a sip and handed it back saying "wan' warm" - cheeky tyke! Then this morning the five nights of care were rewarded (not that they needed to be but hey...) when I said "that" thing (person) she was pointing to was a mummy and her baby: she pointed to me and said with a sweet smile "mine mummy". :D

cheese well done taking initiative and booking amnio. Try not to dwell on worry but on your strength and the reassurance it will bring.

Waves to all

BadMissM · 28/11/2012 18:15

Hi everybody on the thread! Eagleray suggested I might like to join in the thread as a 45 year old who has just found out she's pregnant. I've had a strange history of pregnancy, including an ectopic pregnancy, a stillbirth, and a miscarriage 2 years ago. I also have a disgustingly healthy teenage daughter who is wildly unimpressed by this piece of news. Elated and terrified at the same time....! Smile

lotsofcheese · 28/11/2012 18:22

Exciting times Badmiss - welcome to the thread! How far along do you think you are?

Riverside am so, sorry to hear about your mum. Especially sad at this time of year. Take care of yourself xx

BadMissM · 28/11/2012 18:29

lotsofcheese, thanks. I'm about 6 weeks or so, as far as I can gather. Bit terrified and excited all at once. That said, my Mum was 44 when she had my brother, mind you, by the due date I'll actually be 46 Shock. It's been a long break, DD nearly 14...

To cap it all moving house in 2 days, something I really need at the moment!
