I'm having this problem too so you have my sympathy its awful isn't it!

In my last pregnancy it wasn't quite as bad but I find the only things that help are rennies chalky tablets, milk and if all that fails taking slow, deep breaths seems to ease it atleast.

hope you feel better soon :)

Call your midwife, you don't need to put up with this, she will perscribe you something.

I had terrible heartburn in my 2nd pregnancy so sympathies.
I found that avoiding tomato based and anything like orange juice or with a lot of onions helped. Also (and this sounds daft) but eating at the coffee table kneeling upright seemed to help Confused

Good luck!

thank u for all ur ideas, it is awful and i wasnt expecting it this early on in preg. nothing seems to shift it. i think maybe prescription is definatly the way to go.

My heartburn was horrendous during both pregnancies. The only thing that helped was sucking ginger sweets, the kind you get in health food shops. I couldn't stomach gaviscon etc either. Good luck finding something.

Omeprazole :) GP prescribed it when I went and told him how bad the HB is, it is wonderful. Don't suffer!

Yep get the Omep from the docs - solved all my problems! Went from being in so much pain and not able to lie down or sleep to being totally cured overnight :)

I started with heart burn last week, rennie and gaviscon don't work for me & make me sick so i got these tablets called tums, they are fruit favoured and very nice!

They are fab! Only £2 a box as well.

In the same boat at the mo and not able to keep gaviscon down. I find peppermint tea and extra strong mints help. Doesn't get rid of it entirely but makes it bearable

PickleSarnie · 08/10/2012 19:23

Omeprazole is amazing!
