Can I give birth in a birthing pool if I have a fungal nail infection?

Sorry for the gross question. Really hoping to give birth in a pool but I have a fungal nail infection on my big toe nail (yuck!). Does this pose hygiene issues and put the baby at risk of infection does anyone know?

When are you due?
Can you not treat the infection before the birth?

If the sterilisation of a birthing pool between labouring women isn't good enough to kill off a few spores of fungal nail infection then I am very very worried about my water birthing plans!

There will have been blood & poo & wee & sick in that pool - the last of my worries will be whether someone's had a yellow toenail in there Grin

Not an issue at all!

You are going to poo in the water. (The midwives subtly scoop it out with a sieve! Blush) It will be fine!

Thanks - I was just thinking along the lines of infecting the baby. I just suddenly thought it this morning. And then I thought maybe I could wear a verruca sock haha Blush
