I cant stop itching my feet!

I have been ill for a while blockes up nose for a few days, when this started i also started to urge to itch my left foot, under and everywhere!

I woke up today with a scab i thought nothing of it might of knocked it or caught in the night, but i started to itch my foot again, sometimes not knowing im doing it, i made it bleed about an hour ago.

I am still fighting the urge to do it!

Anyone else has this? Im 28+5.

If you have itchy soles or palms it could be obstetric cholestasis ask your midwife to do a blood test to check your liver function and bile acids.

Itchy feet is a classic sign of obstetric cholestasis. Please contact your local midwives for blood tests today, if you can't get hold of them, phone the antenatal ward.

Yes it is a classic sign of oc, 10 it would be very early ( rare) to be diagnosed at this stage but keep an eye on it, ot may have been linked to your uti. it runs in my family but we have both had tests negative at first then turn positive in the 30+ weeks, it is always worse at night so again it seems to fit, always tell your midwife about it when you have an apointment

Also was your bloods done because you mentioned the itching? The normal bloods will not test for it because it is very rare so it's a specific test that measures bile,

If not OC then it's probably athletes foot! Classic symptoms on soles of the feet, particularly at night, with small vesicles (little fluid filled blisters that dry to scabs). Should be the next thing to rule out.

They did try take my bloods and give me my anti d but failed.

It looks very sore today, i will give my MW a ring though.

The itching does get extremely worse at night

Oc itching is typically worse at night. You need to ring your midwife and get bloods taken as soon as possible. The liver function tests should come back almost immediately, but the bile acid one can take up to 10 days. It doesn't sound like you have had either of these.

I did ring the mw and she said this

'Its perfectly normal to itch your feet, maybe sometimes they do bleed, its obvious as you cannot contain yourself'

I am very polite to the MW and never doubt them but somethings up, they have really bad trouble getting my blood anyway! Even the senior MW couldnt

I said oh okay? asked if needed anything else?!!!!

I have started to itch already, im ringing up again tomorrow.

Some midwives are just shoddy. (Some are fab though!)

I'd go around them to your GP and ask for the tests to be done, I used to soak flannels in camomile lotion (free from your pharmacist with the maternity exemption) and stick them in the fridge, then wrap round feet/ hands, blissful relief for about twenty minutes, really plain aqueous cream (also chilled)could also help. Piriton (prescribed) didn't really help the itching but did knock me out for a good nights sleep.

It sounds mean but it's something you have to be a bit bolshy/ pushy about.

Baby wipes in the freezer are even better! Worked fab for my piles
