Stupid question about sick note

My sick note was from 01/10/12-08/10/12- does that mean I should be back in work Monday (8th) or that I'm covered for Monday and due back Tuesday?

Feel free to point out that I'm being a bit daft here by not knowing

If you went off sick last monday and doc signed you off for a week (which they tend to do!) you will be due back at work monday the 8th as that will be 7 days . Plus the date is normally the day you return to work. If you are not right by monday you will need to go back to docs to get another note . Failing that check with you employer before monday ...............
