should i ring midwife?????

I'm 29 weeks pregnant over last weeks or so been having Braxton hicks all the time on and off which midwife says is fine but they seem to be gettin stronger everyday keep getting back ache since a couple days ago and today went toilet and when I wiped there was a clear thick stringy lump on tissue this happened twice, is that my mucus plug? Nit had discharge like this. Im.worried about preterm labour but don't want to feel like im wasting midwifes time

Call her. Its not wasting her time. Thats what shes there for.

It could be. Or it might just be mucus. I think they should have you in, they can monitor if you're having proper contractions or not.

Give her a bell and say what you've told us.

It is better you call her and get your mind put at rest, than sit home and worry and something actually be happening.

Definitely call her. If your midwife is as poor as mine was and doesn't answer/return your call, get in touch with the day assessment team at the hospital.

It's best to call her over the slightest bit of worry... its better to be safe than sorry.

She said to try not to worry to much as mucus plug can regenerate itself. I should ring back if I have any strong contractions or bleeding. So I guess its just wait and see what happens xx

At this point I would ring the hopsital, there is no point ringing the midwife. They should examine you if you have contractions.

I would go to The hospital and just check your cervix is closed...

I agree. It's all very well regenerating but it really shouldn't be falling out in the first place.

I hope you are alright and not having too much discomfort. Do go in if it gets any worse, won't you - and yes I would still want to be seen and checked out to make sure things weren't progressing at this stage.

I would go and get checked out. There r drugs that can stop labour if it's possible u are in early stages. Id go now while they can do something if they need to. Sure it's all fine but Bette safe than sorry :)

Could be that you have a UTI I had one at 25 weeks, felt very much like contractions needless to say I was terrified,
Went up to the hospital, the MW checked my cervix was closed and not dilating, then did urine sample, was cleared up very quickly with antibiotics, then did a follow up test the next week.

Your discharge can change throughout pregnancy.
Would think if it was your plug it would have some color to it,

But I would defiantly be going up to the hospital for a check up and not just talking someone's word for it over the phone without an examination!
The only way you will relax will be knowing you are in the clear!

Sorry, posted that by accident. I had traces of blood in my tribe which wasn't an infection and I'd had the really thick green mucus discharge. I went to the doctors he felt my stomach and said he didn't know what the pain was and sent me home. Still getting the pain now and they're getting stronger. Could it be something that needs checking or am I being paranoid? Thanks!

Scroob it might be stretching pains if it's your first but it's worth getting checked out.

I would defiantly go and get properly checked, at the hospital by a midwife or obs/gyn Dr, they will be able to assess you fully including doing an internal examination where they can see if you are dilating or not.
Your mucus does and will change texture and consistency throughout your preg, but if it smells strongly, color is weird or you are bleeding, you need to be checked, ASAP, I'd go up today if I was you.

without being disrespectful to GPs their expertise does not lie within pregnancy or childbirth, they know a little about everything but generally are not the best to advising if there is something wrong with your pregnancy (sorry to any GPs reading this I honestly don't mean to offend)

I am not a drama queen, but with my pregnancy a I do NOT take any chances, I don't really care if the midwives think I'm a crazy neurotic paranoid nut job freak!
they are so used to mums airing on the side of caution, they are well used to dealing with false alarms and unnecessary check ups. And I think they would much rather you be safe than sorry!

Scoobs go to the hospital. I had 2 tiny spots of blood and pain I called the hospital they told me it was normal.3 hours later I just went to hospital... they didn't see me straight away and when they did I was fully dilated (weak cervix)and had a infection in my blood which travelled to the placenta. I lost my baby 36 hours later...

Im not saying your going to loose yours but its better to march in there and not leave until your seen. Hope everything is Ok!

I'm a doctor on LW and I would definitely ring labour ward or antenatal day unit. If when they ask you the questions they feel they don't need to see you they'll say but at least they'll make a note of you & be aware in case you ring back. As you're prem they'll more than likely see you & it's always better safe than sorry! I always tell everyone that if they're worried enough to think about ringing then they should. No use driving yourself mad at home and if they tell you to come in & get checked then it just proves you were right to ring! We much prefer it if people come in, are fine & go home than don't come in and then there's a problem.
