Good clothes options to disguise pregnancy

I have only just fallen pg, I have many and varied (and good) reasons to not alert people to the fact that I am pregnant, including tests at 20+ weeks for possible complications. This baby won't be real to us until it is in my arms at home. I know some people take comfort in knowing others are there to support them but DH and I are very private people and would prefer to deal with everything on our own.

Tunic tops? Long cardigans? Mainly black tops/dresses with jeans?

I've got a black cardi that ties at the front which is quite loose from New Look maternity and lots of people say I don't look pregnant in it (5 months gone). Black trousers and loose long white tops work well. Empire sort of cut. In winter you can wrap up well and just look bulky.

Duffel coat for when you're out. Winter will make it easier. No tight clothes -they are a giveaway. Loose tunics. Layer your clothes -vest tops with blouses/tunics and cardigans.

Bigger sizes of the clothes you usually wear? I'm sure a give away for me is that I immediately switch from jeans to stretchy so it's obvious if I'm pregnant!

Bump bands so you can stay in your own clothes for longer... They just look like a vest under your top... Bobble to extend the buttons on the jeans/trousers

Go and buy a really pretty long cotton scarf and wear it loose. It will float around and hide your profile.

Don't forget your boobs can give it away as much as your tummy! Ditch any wired, padded push-up type bras and go for soft styles. Avoid low cut tops which might show off enhanced cleavage.

i would also second the big scarf, while i was still trying to hide it from work this is all i did because i wasn't really showing but was a bit paranoid about it so always wore scarves. actually primark has the extra oversized ones i bought a couple from there

If you are fond of fitted shirts for work, don't suddenly start wearing them in larger sizes, untucked ! It's a dead giveaway.
Unless you suddenly develop a perfectly round bump you are not going to look properly pregnant until month 4-5 insofar as most people will err on the side of caution rather than find themselves congratulating you on being fat You will also find that even when it is blindingly obvious, people won't notice at all [mostly men]
If you look around you, you will see some people with v rounded stomachs wearing v fitted clothes
What sort of clothes do you favour usually and what sort of environment do you work in ? Not much point in recommending tailored dresses if you mostly wear jeans and jumpers.

I usually wear jeans or long skirts and fairly fitted tops. I do however often wear baggy jumpers and tunics as well so I might just edit my wardrobe slowly

Wear a cardi undone, choose the same kinds of clothes just a size up, and always carry a folder or a book! Until you get to be much more pg, I found the best way to disguise it is to make sure people have difficulty making out your side profile.

Thanks everyone - its weird but as we don't book in here until 9/10 weeks I don't really want to think about the pregnancy until then. Not in a day to day way.

Tis the right season for baggy knitwear and I am intending on being responsible with not absorbing chocolate by touch alone!

Knitwear especially cardi's are your friend. Nice cardi's are great for bfing if you want to do that too - pale colours that don't show up milky puke . Your bump will stretch a nice woolly jumper beyond repair so don't sacrifice anything too nice beyond a certain point. Washing will not shrink it back !
One lesson I learned - buying the next size up in trousers really doesn't work for very long. Your waistline fundamentally changes and a bigger size to cater for your waist just means unflatteringly baggy backside and cut. Don't waste your money though I did get plenty of post natal wear out of the larger sizes :-(

I'm 18 weeks and only just starting to show but it's easy to hide with cardigans or floaty tops, maternity jeans are great because they still show off slim legs but are comfortable.

You've picked the right time to get pregnant, it's much easier to disguise it in winter clothes.

First DC I didn't show until 24 weeks but my stomach muscles are not what they were. If I could fast forward to 40 weeks with no office gossip or lengthy discussions about bloody what sex it is etc that would be my preferred course of action.
