Just felt like posting a fun silly thread! (36+4 and I am clearly bored...) When ds was born I had to stay in hospital overnight and hubby brought me in a half bottle of champagne (that waited till I got home as I thought the midwives might not like me having a glass on the postnatal ward...), some pate and stilton. It was soo nice to indulge in some previously forbidden treats! I am planning the same pate feast again this time, plus dreaming about soft-boiled eggs with toast soldiers.... drooling :)

Seeing how I live in Holland the 1st thing I will be given to eat in the hospital will be the very Dutch and traditional "Beschuit met muisjes"
These are round toasted biscuits with suger coated aniseed sprinkled on top. (Which i will politely eat rather than refuse)

But once I'm home my days food will consist of
breakfast - Full english with Runny fried eggs,
lunch - crusty bread platter with Bree and Pâté,
For dinner - a large curry (have been so sick the smell of this makes me feel ill)
And to top it off a super large glass of ice cold Baileys,

Mmmmm 11 weeks and counting!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmm

I was brought up on it (my father's Dutch) and I really miss it! You can get it from importers but it's really expensive.

Yep the peanut advice has changed, it's okay now. I've been peanut buttering it up too Rowan - some older work colleagues told me off for eating satay but I just smiled and nodded and carried on scoffing !

When I came home after having ds3 dp(at the time) had cooked a stew, with dumplings and everything. It was the best meal I've ever eaten. I had twice as much as him and he was amazed at how much I could put away. It was so nice coming home to a delicious hot cooked meal that I've told him he needs to do it again after ds4 is born, I don't care that we aren't together anymore, I'll have just given birth to his son, it's the least he can do!

I had sushi the day after DS2 was born, sesame tuna sashimi and spider rolls with loads of wasabi. Probably a bit too much wasabi for poor DS, can't imangine the milk tasted good

Lol. I once had kippers when I was feeding DD and when she threw up the whole feed it was the most revolting-smelling milk you've ever encountered. Didn't have kippers again till she was off the boob!

Nhs says the risk from smoked salmon is very very low and we aren't advised to avoid it during pregnancy in the uk.

I'm curious about a lot of these foods that people are avoiding. I've continued eating prawns, lobster, smoked salmon as they're not on the list of foods to avoid. Confused

Thinking about it I've had runny eggs, smoked salmon, mr whippy, McDonalds milkshake, pate (only a little bit), sushi, medium rare steak, caffeine and wine Shock I actually feel a bit fool hardy now Blush. I suppose I just feel everything in moderation is probably ok, and I try and eat from clean places and reputable sources!

I have avoided soft cheeses though cos it's the only one I ever remember I'm not supposed to have!

I'm pretty sure that smoked salmon is not only allowed but also very good for you in pregnancy

also pink on inside steak I think is okay so long as outside is cooked and sealed, its pink on inside burgers that I think you're supposed to avoid because the meat is minced first so the inside was exposed IYKWIM

Breakfast: eggs Benedict with soft poached eggs & homemade hollandaise
Lunch: cheese & biscuits with all sorts of delicious creamy unpastuerised cheeses with mould on the rind!
Supper: strong G&T then pâté on toast followed by rare fillet steak with bearnaise. Cake mixture for pudding.

If I don't leave LO as an orphan after keeling over from rich food induced heart attack, it will be amazing Grin

Blush Blush Blush

Obviously there would still be my very DH. whoops.

Sometimes it feels like he isn't involved in this whole pregnancy thing especially when he sits there guzzling delicious creamy Camembert!!!

when the waiter brought me a goats cheese salad t'other day a woman glared at me so much that i looked it up (it says to avoid unless cooked, but pah! it tasted good)
for me- tea and toast is amazing, but prob with a glass of red (minus heartburn) before i snuggle into bed with littl'un (homebirthing) and i must say i am inspired by the idea of a nice take away post birth :-) because atm i feel too sick to eat one

At a guess a really crap plastic sandwich from a vending machine. H has form for being really rubbish at practicalities.

That said, the floppy NHS sandwich that a nurse once brought me after I had been nil by mouth for 36 hours, was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. I nearly hugged her from gratitude.
