Just felt like posting a fun silly thread! (36+4 and I am clearly bored...) When ds was born I had to stay in hospital overnight and hubby brought me in a half bottle of champagne (that waited till I got home as I thought the midwives might not like me having a glass on the postnatal ward...), some pate and stilton. It was soo nice to indulge in some previously forbidden treats! I am planning the same pate feast again this time, plus dreaming about soft-boiled eggs with toast soldiers.... drooling :)

HermioneE I've had soft eggs, midwife told it was ok as all lion marked british eggs are listeria free.

I could kill for a can of coke, being good and not drinking it whilst I'm pregnant, I've already told DH to put a can in my hospital bag so I can have it straight away :)

I've probably eaten most of the banned foods already to be honest - I can't seem to keep them straight in my head this time around Blush

Last time I did indeed have a bottle of gin waiting for me at home and the first G&T was bliss (baby on boob at time so she probably enjoyed it too Wink )

Rare steak with chunky chips and a cold peroni, although champagne is probably more appropriate to the occasion. Also pâté on toast, other than these and soft cheeses I haven't really taken much notice of other restricted foods... Ooo or prawn mathi from the Indian takeaway, she won't let me eat prawns that he hasn't personally cleaned and cooked!

I don't think anyone suggested that you couldn't eat Chinese food during pregnancy, it just sounds like a good post-delivery meal!

I don't buy into all the no-no list hype...I eat my eggs runny and my steak rare. Yum!

Huge chunk of Brie on some crusty bread (I know you can eat of cooked, but I don't like it that way), followed by pâté.

If its gng to be anything like last time, two bagels filled with crispy bacon. My husband brought me only one to begin with!!! I'd been pushing for 6 hours...sent him straight down for another one. Had DS at home.

DH bought me a huge tray of fresh sushi to the hospital the morning after DS was born. Was delicious!

When we brought dd2 home from hossy after a 6 hour discharge, we had smelly cheeses and biscuits, with grapes, olives, and sundried tomatoes. Was yum!

I generally have eaten whatever I want in regards cheese and peanuts (didnt even know I wasnt supposed to have them) and have had a bit of wine.
When I get home from the hospital (if I make it through labour Sad - absolutely terrified - I would LOVE a proper Margarita in a frozen salt rimmed glass. I am also dreaming about going to a sea food restaurant with a girl friend (partner doesnt like sea food) and eating calamari, prawns, muscles, oysters etc with extra extra strong cocktails. I miss cocktails so much Envy.

As I haven't stopped eating anything I usually eat, I'm not craving anything!

All the ladies denying themselves runny eggs and the like need to do their own research.....

Brie and Red Wine! Mmmmmm dribble

I've not heard the peanut butter one though... I'm currently sat at my desk with a massive jar of PB and a tablespoon. I literally couldn't last the day without this stuff at the minute!

DP has already been told that he must arrive at the hospital after with sainsburys pork and port pate, if he gets another i will literally harm him with frenchstick and real butter if he values his nuts. These are the basic requirement, but should also be accompanied by brie and real parma ham! Then upon arrival home my first dinner is going to be ribeye steak cooked so its nearly alive Grin with a nice glass of rosè. Not that ive obsessed. Roll on dec!!

I'm also not excluding anything I'd normally eat - eating runny eggs every week - so not longing for anything in particular.

Although I love them I would avoid for now steak tartare and oysters, but eating them is not an everyday occurrence. I doubt I'll want them immediately post-birth. Maybe a couple of weeks later washed down with lots of champagne or other nice wine.

I have no idea what I'll have first thing post birth, but expect I'll either want some stodgy comfort food or feel pretty rough and just want something simple like toast.

Oysters, have eaten EVERYTHING else with no ill effects.
Mostly just looking forward to enjoying a really gluttonous meal, feeling properly hungry again (with no one squeezing my stomach) and eating anything I want with no heartburn afterwards. Digestion that starts directly after a meal rather than 3 hrs later would be lovely too.

You are all wrong, the first thing you will eat will be the best ever toast and strawberry jam, with the nicest ever tasting cup of tea. Even if you have gone right off tea, that tea and toast the midwife brings is heaven!

Report
Brugmansia · 04/10/2012 17:36

I really hope that's not what I eat first as I dislike both tea and jam. Marmite on toast on the otherhand would be great.
