I have just been reading the lovely thread about having boys, but I have just found out I am having a girl! Please tell me the lovely things about having a girl.

Congrats! Mine is cuddly, playful, hilarious, loving. Loves mucking around outside and prancing round dancing in equal measure. She's a total charmer who plays beautifully by herself and with other littlelies.

But, yes, tights cost a fortune!

Thanks for this thread... I have three wonderful boys and have just found out that the next baby will be a girl. It is lovely to read others' experiences and start looking forward to having a daughter.

These are lovely, thanks :)

Girls are amazing and what you make of them... Let them be who they want to be (with obvious guidance of course) and you will reap the rewards. I adore my daughter who is a brilliant cross of girly and tomboy. Loves shopping and having her hair done, but is just as comfortable in the woods, riding her bike and into Avengers, cars and Harry potter. Embrace them and they will fill your world with joy. I have two more girls on the way and although I had my heart set on boys, I can't wait to see what characters they will become. :)

I have a conspiracy theory on the tights thing actually. They sell packs of individually patterned/coloured pairs of socks. Meaning that WHEN you lose one (it's inevitable) the pair is now useless and you have to go back and buy more. If they sold big packs of matching socks which they hardly ever do, you'd get a lot more mileage out of them. I must buy sodding socks every month because of this. But with tights, you can't lose them, so you buy far fewer. So they make you PAY for this.

Odd socks are indeed the pits, but at least you don't make holes in them every time you fall over. Infant girls go through tights like there's no tomorrow.
They also stick horribly to grazed knees and it hurts to take when mummy has to take them off.

Grr and the hair pins are still out to get me!

I adore having girls. When I was pg with dd1 I was convinced I was having a boy - she was a complete surprise. I loved having her soooo much that when I was thrilled to have a second dd. I love their emotional intelligence, and the way they help me to do things and enjoy my company so much. It is just beautiful to have daughters.

The negative is that I now look at pink things and Sylvanian Families and go 'ooh that's nice'... never thought I would do that!

I don't have a daughter but my 2year old niece stayed over with me last night and after showering this morning had to have her hair blow dried then her nails painted pink on toes purple on fingers and a little blusher to get her ready for home we had a ball and all before 10am this morning!

my DD (25 months) is already a tomboy with some pink tops! :) She loves her black cardigan and jumper and asks for her pink top every now and then. She's affectionate with daddy but a big drama queen at the same time. :) She's a bit hyper (no sugar is allowed in the house) just like her mummy and her auntie but sleeps throughout the night exhausted. I may have had a labour from hell but I love my baby to bits (most of the time..lol).
moosemama after your post though, I want one boy too! :) Even though if I had 2 boys I would have never risked to have a third one... Blush

There is a hair clip/ hair bobble mountain somewhere....

Aww Sheldonella, massive, massive congratulations!

I'm currently pg with DC2 (boy). My DC1 is my DD and there is so much that is amazing about her, i'm quite unsure where to start!

My DD is 14 now & she's the best thing to ever happen to me.

She's intelligent, beautiful, witty & very kind.

She's my heart & my soul & you will most definitely reap the rewards of being lucky enough to be blessed with a DD from the second you meet her.

Well done!

Nothing compares to the feeling of being hit on the bum with a pink sword wielded by a growling DD in her tutu and wellies. Grin
