Sat in doctors, crying, begging to be induced :-(

Currently 38+2 and have horrendous SPD.

Over the last few weeks its got alot worse (i never thought it could get any worse) Waking up alot in the night in pain, turning over is utter agony!

Struggling walking upstairs, and getting up off a chair and walking around.

Never been so miserable in my life!

After a bad night of pain last night, there i was crying in bed because of the pain :-(

Went to doctors today, explained the situation, broke down in tears and begged to be induced.

Aparently they dont induce you for this problem, and i was prescribed 4 times stronger co-codamol than what i was given last time for the same problem.

Just dont feel i can cope any longer

Can your midwife speak to the consultant? I had a c-section at 37+6 because of severe SPD. It was only a c-section because I'd already had one previously or it would have been an induction. The consultant agreed to this & booked me in. You have all my sympathy, I know how horrible it is. God luck.

im going to ring my midwife tomorrow and see what she says. Did your SPD go straightaway?

they won't induce you before 37 weeks because baby is not developed enough. SPD is awful I had it with my first baby bad. try to keep moving, it gets worse if you do nothing as you cease up more xx

She's past 37 weeks. I had a c-section at 38 weeks last time , brought forward a week due to SPD. Do you have a consultant ?

i am under a consultant yes, but not for anything major and only seen her once or twice

I wish I'd asked to be induced earlier with SPD. I ended up 11 days overdue and it was utter agony. Labour was less painful.

im so worried about going overdue with this pain, i cant cope with this for the next possibly 3 weeks.

Shes my first child, and unfortunatley because of this, will be my last. Couldnt go through this again, had it since 8 weeks pregnant

If I were you I'd try calling the hospital to get in touch with your consultant.

Last pregnancy I was in severe pain due to pre-existing spinal and pelvic problems, and there was lots of talk of doing a c-section early due to the amount of pain I was in (only a CS due to nobody knowing if I'd be able to labour due to pelvic abnormality.)

As it was, DS came spontaneously at 34+0 weeks anyway, and I did manage to labour successfully (a bit too successfully - labour time of 1 hour 15 mins, although was already 7cm by the time anyone realised I was in labour).

So basically, IME severe pain can be an indication for induction, but I would think you'd have to go through your consultant.

I really feel for you, i was lucky with Ds1 and only got a very very very mild version (not even worth talking about when i was 38 wks)
But my good friend had this from week 8, like you was in agony, and ended up in a wheelchair due to it for the last week of her preg.
She ended up demanding a C-section. And had her baby at 39weeks.
Unfortunatly whie you are pregnant this is not going to get better and will only continue to cause you pain,
She wishes now she had demanded action sooner,
I dont mean to worry you but She is now 2 years on from her labour and is still in discomfort,

If i where you i would phone the consultant or the mw and demand they induce or book you in for a section.
You are over 37 weeks so they have no reason to keep you in this level of pain!

My dsis was induced because of a mix of short labours and SPD at 38w - they were worried she wouldn't be mobile enough to get to the hospital in time! The GP won't really know what s/he's talking about I wouldn't have thought - it's not his daily fare - definitely speak to your MW, or phone the consultant's secretary and try and organise an extra appointment.

You have my sympathies too. Hope your mw can speed things p for you. Just FYI my SPD pretty much stopped one I gave birth an it was milder with my second Ds. All the best.

Yes, my pain went straight away. I am now pregnant again and see an osteopath once a fortnight & apart from a bit of backache, I'm almost pain free this time! So there is hope if you ever consider pregnancy again.

I had it, its not good.

Ask if you can have accupuncture our pct offers it.

I am having the same problem :(( currently 35+5 and in terrible pain due to SPD, I have crutches and been given co-codemol but nothing helps to be honest. My midwife has shown no sympathy and I wouldn't know how to go about seeing the consultant. Do I call the hospital to be referred to the consultant? Had to finish work early and cannot drive. Am just house bound trying to stay busy :(( you have my sympathy! xxx

Well the painkillers my doctor gave me which were 4 times stronger than the last lot he prescribed arent touching the pain! :-(

Went to see midwife today, she said they very rarely induce early due to the high factor of needing a C-Section because of it.

However as im under a consultant, she has booked me an appointment with her for 6 days time!! To see what she says, but she doesnt think she will agree to an induction. However when i see the consultant it will be 5 days before my due date.

Sorry I'm new to this forum. I have been wondering about something similar. My planned section is arranged for when I'm 39 weeks. I am now 33 weeks and suffering really badly with SPD, I'm even struggling to sit for longer than 2 minutes at a time. I'm seeing my consultant next week and I'm going to request an earlier section - even if its just at 38 weeks. Am i being selfish toward the health of my baby?
