Which date do I go with????

Hi there

I had my 12 week scan today at what I thought was 13+1. We were pretty certain on our dates as we had IVF so could tell you exactly what date and even time our LO was conceived . However at the scan today they placed me at 13+5 - a whole 4 days sooner, and moved our due date forward by 4 days.

Which date do I go with when telling people when we are due ? Or is this normal and they change your dates throughout based on the size of the baby?

They stuck with the predicted date I was given at the 12 wk scan. Don't worry too much as you could be early or overdue by a couple of weeks so everyone knows it is a best guess date

I think that medical professionals will insist on using the scan date, which will mean they will base your antenatal care on this (and the date when they start to suggest induction, if you go overdue).

They don't change it after the 12 week scan AFAIK, even if the baby measures big or small for dates later on.

If I was you I would tell friends and family something vague, as it will stop people sending messages on your 'due date' asking whether the baby has been born yet, which I can imagine would be very irritating.

I am telling everyone 'the end of January' for this reason.

Hi Dandelion , you know exactly when you concieved so i would go by your dates , for telling people :) oh and congratulation s !!
i m due 14th feb by nurse 12th by my own dates and 18 th by scan pics i asked the doc what do i go by and he said anytime from two wks b4 - 2 wks after , i should have expected this answer as this is my 2nd and she was 10 days over and i had to be induced . it took him to remind my that a baby hardly ever comes on their due date , they have a little mind of their own lol . oh and as far as i know yes they would take the size and comp works out average for due date , hope this is of help :)
