Painful stretch marks, anything I can do?

I was enormous with DS so assumed I wouldn't get any new stretch marks this time but apparently this baby is a different shape or lying differently or something as I am getting new stretch marks a few inches above my tummy button.

Last time they were all low down, angry and Red but didn't hurt at all... This time I can see and actually feel them appearing.. It feels like someone is Chinese-burning my tummy!

I've tried using cocoa butter, I don't think it will prevent them but thought it might help the whole thing a bit less painful but I'm still in agony!

I can't even bend down without feeling like the baby is going to rip through my skin like a scene from alien! My active labour plan is going out of the window if this doesn't let up.. Has anyone any tips or experienced the same thing?!

Keep your cocoa butter in the fridge - so soothing when I experienced it (although not to the same degree as you seem to be - yikes!) :)

I had this. Horrid. It felt like I'd burnt my skin. Mine didn't hurt until after the birth (c-section).

Hope you feel better soon. Try Calamine Lotion (good idea about keeping it in the fridge). And HUGE pants so there's no elastic rubbing on them.

I have this too, in the exact place you describe. Yes to keeping them moisturised and making sure nothing's rubbing on them - my overbump jeans are fab for stopping tshirts and looser clothing rubbing.
