heartburn/acid reflux - haven't got any gaviscon

any ideas for what can I eat that might settle it a bit? it's really really horrible!!

I bought some tonic water yesterday on the recomendation of a friend,
It did seem to help last night, (i did still go to bed hugging my jumbo bottle of Gaviscon) but i didnt need to use it quite as much,
And i was in so much pain with it yesterday pm i was crying! So i was actually dreading going to bed last night :-(
