Engaged. Is it possible baby could disengage?

37+1wks with DC2. Ten days ago my mw said baby was engaged and ready to go. And I should stand warned!

Ten days on and I'm more confused than ever. And I'm moody cow too. Fairly certain baby is still engaged, jugding by bump height and feeling in pelvis. But is it possible for baby to disengage?

First baby was 11 days late, so I'd not been holding my breath for anything earlier than 41wks!!

Did she say 'how' engaged it was?! It is possible. At 36 weeks dd was 4/5 engaged. 2 weeks later 2/5 engaged. At 42 weeks I stopped asking. I think they can go up n downGrin

Yes definitely possible with DC2.

MW told me that baby can be engaged then pop out again as everything is 'looser' in pelvis having given birth before.

DD2 was 3/5 engaged at 37w but still managed to go 8 days overdue, 11 with DD1. Apparently you are more likely to be overdue with DC2 if you were with DC1 so it might be a while before anything happens!

Definitely. My dc all bounced in and out of my pelvis. None ever stayed in there overnight. #3 is following suit. Sigh.

Definitely possible. I was 2/5 at 34 weeks and worried about premature labour. Then at 36 weeks he had popped out. It's quite common according to my midwife. Now I'm at the stage where I'd quite like him to pop back in again...
