Maternity jeans - recommendations please!!

I am really struggling!

I am looking for a pair of maternity jeans that don't keep falling down/require constant hitching up.

I have a couple of pairs from Vertbaudet which I spend all day hitching up. They have a sort of in-the-middle-of-your-bump band which doesn't seem to help as it just folds over as soon as I bend.

I have ordered and returned countless pairs from Next as they are either too low-rise or feel like they will fall down as soon as I have done some walking/sitting.

I am a SAHM so spend a lot of time on the floor playing, so would like a comfy pair and a smart (skinny) pair for when I go out. I am a size 8/10.

Thank you!!

Im having exactly the same issue wit maternity jeans and wondering if I just need to wait till my bump is bigger.
Bought some new look ones, they're quite basic looking and aren't skinny as I like my jeans (and fall down) so after reading some online reviews I bought a pair from Gap, love them and love the nude over the bump band.........but they're still falling down grrrrrr. Going to stick to leggings for awhile longer!

Wiggy29 · 30/09/2012 08:27

I would avoid Next- found that after a few hours of wearing their jeans/ cords they go really saggy round knees and bum. Not a good look.

Kelerina · 30/09/2012 08:38

You all have me worried now! Just bought a pair from ASOS, tried them on and was very pleased but not ACTUALLY worn them yet, will they disapoint me????

AlisonDB · 30/09/2012 17:31

Cake bump, i would not/ am not embarrassed to go into new look, but other people on here where kind of saying they where!
So i was just saying they have a website....

Dogsmom · 30/09/2012 17:37

My favourite ones are from New Look too, buy ones with belt loops if you can, my first pair didnt have the loops and although they dont constantly fall down like most they do ride down a bit but if you can wear a belt it keeps them up no problem, the belt sits under the bump but they still have the lycra belly bit for comfort.

Dandelion75 · 01/10/2012 11:05

Not got my New Look jeans yet, but just to let you know I ordered online late Sat morning and got an email at 930am today to say they were ready in my local store for me to collect. Excellent service!

Will collect at lunchtime and see what the jeans themselves are like and report back..... Grin

stargirl1701 · 01/10/2012 11:17

Not GAP. Fell down constantly.

carrielou2007 · 01/10/2012 11:39

Everyone recommending New Look jeans I 'm looking at the ones that say overbumo and are boot cut. I don 't do skinners normally straight leg these seen to be best for me they are )15.99 these the right ones?

Went into local store big stocked and had eye op in city centre last week so whilst there went to H and M (their jeans were not fit me!!) and none in New Look.

I had a fab pair last time but they literally fall down as last pregnancy was 14 now 12. I have got done leggins but not a leggins fan with size of my bottom prefer jeans for winter Grin

carrielou2007 · 01/10/2012 11:41

P.s would love it if at my age people thought it was 'normal' for me to shop on New Look Grin not my type if shop normally due to body shape after two children Grin

I can def say avoid dorothy perkins under bump skinny jeans in black! I loved them when they first arrived, but soon realised they pick up every teeny tiny piece of fluff and dust possible... Drives me crazy! Have worn them loads out of necessity however and am now having a problem with the elastic waistband. It's quite thin and now folds itself over when I'm putting them on - spent a very frustrating 10 mins pulling them up and down yesterday for this reason!!!
H&M over bump leggings and linen trousers have been my lifesavers!

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 01/10/2012 13:27

Thanks everyone!

Have ordered a couple of pairs from H&M. My local New Look actually have a maternity section Shock and I tried some on in there but none fit (I did get a couple of nice tops though!)

I'm not really ventured into the world of leggings before, maybe now is the time to try...

Collected the New Look jeans at lunchtime and am pretty pleased with them. I'm keeping the skinny underbumps (althought can tell they will fall down a lot - great idea about tucking your vest in for friction Smile)

The best ones are the bootcut overbump - think these are what you were looking at carrie - really comfy and a great fit with plenty of room to grow.

Obviously this is just based on a trying on but so far I'm pleased and they are amazingly cheap!

AlisonDB · 01/10/2012 17:56

Dandelion75 & Carrie,
Its the overbump, bootcut ones i have and i LOVE them!
I wear them daily, and am never uncomfortable in them, they wash well, wear well, dont sag at the knees (im a childminder, most of my day is spent sitting on the floor - or like today crawling round on my knees pretending to be a dog!!!)

Carrie, im 36 and i shop in Newlook, even when not pregnant!
I love some of their shoes and summer sandles,
And their clothes are great value if all you are after is throw away fashion!

rogersmellyonthetelly · 01/10/2012 20:42

I can only wear over bump. I have no arse to hold anything up so
Under bump is the only way to go. I have found mamas and papas do a
Skinny jegging with over bump panel, perfect for under my long boots.

Lostbobbles · 01/10/2012 20:47

I have found Mamalicious the best, i have the slim boot cut and they have an adjustable waist and an over the bump band. Not sure is the slim or jegging styles have the same mamalicious.com/Jeans/mm-jeans-collection,en_GB,sc.html

carrielou2007 · 02/10/2012 08:05

Brill thank you, will order some later in store a snap at £16!!

MrsJohnDeere · 02/10/2012 12:02

Where is the best place for under the bump jeans for short people? And not skinny ones, I really don't have the legs or height to carry those off.

Not Next or Dorothy Perkins - just don't fit my shape at all.

With previous pregnancies (a zillion years ago) I had short length ones from Blooming Marvellous which fitted perfectly, but they don't exist any more do they? I stupidly threw my old ones awy because I definitely was NOT going to have more children!

emeraldgirl1 · 02/10/2012 12:40

OP - sorry, don't have time to read through the whole thread but wondered if anyone had mentioned Seraphine? I can't say they stay ENTIRELY up, but they only require occasional hitching, and I am wearing the below-bump ones - the above-bump ones may stay up more? Main reason I mention them is that they are very smart and incredibly comfortable and look fantastic (not bigging up my body, just saying the jeans are great and flattering!).

They are pricier than other brands (roughly £55 a pair) but I am a jeans freak, they are ALL I wear, so I am used to paying way way more for jeans than this, they seem very good value to someone who is accustomed to paying at least double that for a pair.

joby21 · 02/10/2012 18:58

I struggle with jeans staying up pre pregnancy however I have tried a pair of h and m skinny jeans that sit under my bump and they are ace! No hint of falling down at all. I cannot bare yo.have things up and over my bump.so these are perfect. In fact I went back to h and m today and bought another pair! I.noticed they also have them in different colours.

I tried new look jeans on and they did not fit me at all!

NoTeaForMe · 02/10/2012 19:40

I found red herring (from debenhams) over the bump jeans were really good! Best by far!

Top shop Leigh for me. Loved them.

Peacenquiet2 · 29/11/2013 10:10

Just recieved my delivery from new look this morning of maternity jeans and leggings funnily enough. The dark wash denim under bump ones are a keeper but the black version are way to baggy on the calf for 'skinny jeans' so they are going back.
I also ordered a pair of denim look leggings that come over bump, they are so comfy and roomy for belly and LONG, which is eseential as im 5,11.
Im size 14 usually and the 14 are perfect fit so no need to size up. And to top it off they are a bargain at 15.99, reccomend highly!

SicknSpan · 29/11/2013 10:23

Was in Primark earlier in the week and they had maternity jeans- i was very surprised! £11 a pair in black, indigo, light and mid denim- no idea of fit but I was gobsmacked as didn't think Primark did such stuff.
