Late booking in appointment

I'm 15 and a half weeks and was wondering why I hadn't heard anything from the doctors/midwife about appointments, so phoned them. So now I have a booking-in appointment but it's not till the 13th April.

Should I go see the doctor in the meantime? By the time I see the midwife I'll be about 18 weeks by then and will have had no blood tests/ blood pressure/urine or anything in the meantime...

I must sound really stupid, but the doctor never told me!

With ds I had my booking app at 17 and half weeks. No problem.

mine is scheduled for about 16/17 weeks, my scan was booked for same time as booking in, next available one wasn't for 5 weeks later!

OK, thanks, feel better now. I could hear the receptionists moaning 'she's 15 weeks and she's not even booked in yet', whilst I was 'on hold' and it made me feel like an idiot.

I don't know why they treat mumstobe like this it's dreadful really. By 15 weeks it's not unreasonable to have heard from midwifery service and had booking in appt and date for scan for heavens sake. I don't think anyway. My local PCT, (portsmouth) is dreadful too. You only get one scan at around 16-17 weeks, and when preg with first lo I had to ring docs as well to chase up booking appt, at 12 weeks as I hadn't heard anything and was wondering what to do. I appreciate that the frist 3 months is the time when most pregs can go wrong and little can be done about it, but surely when you're nearing that limit a phone call to arrange booking in appt/scan wouldn't be too much to ask. Honestly, I don't know what we pay taxes for in this country, I really think in many respects it's going down the pan, Okay rant over! But point is, I think you were right to chase them.

I was 18 weeks before they saw me aswell I was disgusted at this because my last 2 I had my appointment just before my first scan at 12 weeks but I lived in birmingham then

since moving up North this seems to be the norm or maybe they are stretched for midwifes

Drs' receptionists are the worst - they behave like sarky teenagers at the best of times, ime. Ignore them.

Blimey...I had booking appt with GP at 6 wks as soon as tested positive, and 1st midwife appt at 9wks as a home visit, scan at 13wks and another m/w appt at 16wks. hadn;t realised these things varied so much around the country.
