Ok so newly pregnant again after 2 mc, I have a 12 month old dd who's only just walking so is carried alot too, I know plenty of women have babies after babies but just wanted to ask if anyone worried about picking up their children all the time, Im obviously not going to stop but is there maybe a safer way to lift etc
I'm more worried because of the 2 previous mc when I has no problems before dd but I realise this could also be bad luck, just want to try and reduce as much risk as possible

I am 37 weeks pregnant with DC3. DD is a very sturdy 3-year-old and I pick her up all the time.
Heavy lifting can be dangerous for you, not for the baby. Smile

Just make sure you bend with your knees when you pick you dd up, using your tummy muscles too much can be dangerous. So long as you are picking up correctly you should be fine... Best of luck, can imagine you must be very protective of your little one growing.

Had a friend who miscarried moving house - doctors thought this was the cause. She hasnt had any pregnancy problems since. But she was lifting wardrobes etc - think your child should be OK

Thanks girls- there's not much I can do about it really but she wants lifting about 50 times aday, I just find myself quite conscious of how I'm doing it every time, as time goes on I know itl be my back that suffers and not baby but in the first trimester it's so fragile isn't it, wish you could fast forward!!

If it makes you feel better, I was still Olympic Lifting up to about 4 months. Not heavy weights - maybe 15KG (7.5 each side) but the whole snatch and clean and jerk techniques (they have such odd names!)

When we went to the GP to get the confirmation of pregnancy he made a point of saying keep doing what I'd been doing before. I mentioned Olympic Lifting and he said it was fine - I could do anything I'd done before, just not to do any horse riding!

I'm now 36+5 :)

I still pick up my 5+ 7 yos. As long as it doesn't hurt I'm gunna keep doing it!

Am 28 weeks now.

I use a sling a lot for DS (18 months) and know of many women who still use them with toddlers in while heavily pregnant (eg almost up to birth). You will be fine, just listen to your body and if something feels wrong then put her down straight away.
