Def Charlie, i only know of one charlie where i live, he is now 3 and at nursery, i remember when he was born and peering in his pram and his mum said his name was charlie, he was all cosy in his baby blue suit and charlie just suited him, although i also like Tom as my friend childminds a litle one called Tom he is so cute with blonde hair and wanders around sucking his thumb, just really suits him

That's why I've never told anyone what names we were thinking of until it was a done deal!

Tom

MrsDoolittle · 20/03/2006 16:00

Tom, although expect people will call him Thomas

I had a friend named Jenny, she used to get really annoyed when anyone called her Jennifer.

biglips · 20/03/2006 16:02

Tom

CadMum · 20/03/2006 16:02

Love Thomas (does NOT go well with our last name or might have been DS2's name). Also really like Charlie but would think it too Royal as the name of the next king...

allyco · 20/03/2006 16:41

Alfie

I wanted this but DH vetoed it 'cos of Eastenders.

Even though my grandad was an Alfie...

Tom as second choice.

Rach69 · 20/03/2006 16:41

Tom is lovely but Charlie is my favourite (not sure that other people won't lengthen them though!) Personally I think Alfie has peaked popularity now and is less of a 'classic' if that matters to you.

fairyjay · 20/03/2006 16:47

is acommon name

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 20/03/2006 18:47

I don;t know any Toms but know several Alfies and a couple of Charlies

SenoraPostrophe · 20/03/2006 18:49

charlie is not a short name, surely? Smile

I choose alfie. as long as it's not because of the eastenders chap anyway.

edam · 20/03/2006 18:52

I'd go for Tom - just because I know quite a few Charlies. And Alfie and Charlie are both little boy/very familiar names - it's the ee sound on the end that makes them obvious diminuitives. Tom is obviously also shortened but would give him a less 'aw, bless' name for use as an adult. Can you imagine a High Court Judge called Alfie? Or, the other way round, if he was ever up before the beak, Tom sounds much more respectable for an adult!

Tinker · 20/03/2006 18:53

Don't like Alfie.

Think Tom is best, not sure on Charlie.
