Hello everyone!!

I had the most horrific diarrhoea this morning, lasted almost an hour non stop. My body was bearing down quite hard (sorry for tmi). It was like heaving to be sick but coming out the other end instead. I was sweating and shaking, in a right mess. I'm a little weak and shaky now and cuddled up on the sofa but since this morning have been busting for a wee every 20-30 mins. Have I done myself an injury straining do hard? Or have I got a water infection now as well!!! (just to completely finish me off!)

I'm 21 weeks and had absolutely no warning for this morning. It was truly horrendous.

Any advice on this?

Anyone? Actually feeling pretty rough :( it can't be anything I've eaten as dp is fine and we had the same food yesterday. Do u think it's worth bothering docs/midwife with? I'm on bp watch with midwives already as I had pre eclampsia last pregnancy. Do u think this is even worth mentioning?

It's all worth mentioning if your pg. Get on the phone to your gp or midwife

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/09/2012 15:49

You poor thing! Is it the start of cystitis? I would def mention it to the midwife.

EdMcDunnough · 20/09/2012 15:55

Yes ring them. It sounds horrid, the thing that makes me worry though is if it was very forceful - I mean that could just be that things are already quite compressed in that area, or it could be something to do with the baby I guess, so it is worth getting checked out.

I hope you are better soon.

PipIsOutNow · 20/09/2012 16:03

Hmmm I'm the sort of person who absolutely hates making fuss so don't want to ring unless I have to. I've had a tiny and I mean tiny bit

Come Pip you know the answer, call the midwife NOW

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/09/2012 16:08

Do it. Now.

Haemadoots · 20/09/2012 16:08

I would at least phone midwife I am sure they will be happy to hear from you and check you out.

EdMcDunnough · 20/09/2012 16:09

Have you had spotting before?

Look it is really unlikely, but anything that resembles contractions or suchlike at around 20 weeks needs you to be seen.

It is possible to go into premature labour at this stage, sometimes with an incompetent cervix, for example - and I was reading your thread thinking, well, she isn't bleeding, so that;s Ok - but if you are having any blood loss at all you need to get seen straight away x

Pancakeflipper · 20/09/2012 16:10

Midwife, phone her.
The UTI could be causing the runny poo and they make you feel wretched. But I think you need some midwifery reassurance.

Hope you feel better soon.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/09/2012 16:11

If it makes you feel better, look upon it as making a fuss on behalf of your unborn baby, not for yourself.

ByTheWay1 · 20/09/2012 16:13

Phone midwife now !! My first sign of labour was runny poop with urgent need to go and to bear down.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/09/2012 16:17

Pip, getting worried now. I hope you are not replying because you are on the phone to the midwife?

PipIsOutNow · 20/09/2012 16:22

I've just phoned her...she said I need to book in with gp as it sounds like a uti. She didn't sound overly concerned so feel a bit silly now!!!

OP posts:
EdMcDunnough · 20/09/2012 16:24

Oh sorry you feel silly. Did you tell her about the spotting?

Macarooned · 20/09/2012 16:24

Don't be silly, a uti in pregnancy is important to catch early....make that gp appt quickly.

Pancakeflipper · 20/09/2012 16:25

Have you an out of hours GP you can go and see ( armed with your pot of wee)?

PipIsOutNow · 20/09/2012 17:12

I'm off to emergency doctors now

seabuckthorn · 20/09/2012 17:16

Good luck, hope you are ok.

PipIsOutNow · 20/09/2012 17:53

Thanks everyone for your support today. I have another water infection :( doctor has given me antibiotics. Amazing how quickly it's developed as I only had antenatal clinic yesterday and urine sample was clear!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/09/2012 18:40

Did the diarrhoea cause the uti or the other way around?

Pancakeflipper · 20/09/2012 18:45

Might be worth drinking lemon barley water. It doesn't cure UTI's but it's good at flushing your " water pipes" out so nasties dont get much chance to hang on and grow.

Hope you feel better soon and glad you have seen a Dr.

Don't know how I managed to double post!! I'm
Not sure which came first tbh!!! But none of it is pleasant! Will get some lemon barley water tomorrow. I'm pretty good with fluids I drink loads of water throughout the day and have never had water infections in my life before this pregnancy and now I'm on my 2nd one! Strange what pregnancy does to our bodies eh? Thanks again for all the support today everyone
