Hi
Just that really - I'm 17 weeks tomorrow with my second baby and keep reading how so many people feel movement much earlier with their second babies. I think I felt movement with my first around 18 weeks so am now concerned that I haven't felt anything so far this time around.

My 12 week scan went fine, but due to some early issues I'm still a little nervy and waiting for the 20 week scan is really difficult. Especially because the horrible pregnancy symptoms have gone too so I don't really feel that pregnant.

Anybody else not felt a second baby move till a bit later???

thanks.

With DC1 I started feeling movements at 14-15 weeks. This time I didn't feel anything until 19 weeks. I am slightly less toned this time though!

Thank you - that is music to my ears. Hadn't thought about the less toned thing. Same here - hopefully its just that then!

Yes.

I'm currently 38 weeks with DC2.
I felt movement in my first pregnancy at 13 weeks, this time not until 18-19 weeks. I was so worried I bought a doppler as midwife wouldn't listen for heartbeat until after 20 week scan.

This baby has been way more active than DC1 it just took its time to start.

Hopefully you'll be ok. Best of luck.

I'm almost 24 weeks expecting DS2 and didn't feel any movements until about 19 weeks. It was discovered at my 20 week scan that I had an anterior placenta, so baby had a cushion making it more difficult to feel movements. Maybe you do, too...

Easier said than done, but try not to worry.

Thanks for your posts. I had my 16 week midwife appointment a couple of days ago and she said they don't usually check for heartbeats at that one. She could see I was concerned so said she would try. She then just wasn't very convinced about what she could hear. She said I think i'm picking up movement but if you're worried go to the EPU. I don't feel the need to do that and now kind of wish I'd just left well alone. Your posts make me feel better though. Thanks very much.

I'm 21 weeks with ds2 and have been feeling him move since about 19 weeks - same with ds1. I asked my midwife as I hadn't felt him earlier and she said it depends entirely on baby's position and placenta etc so I really wouldn't worry.

I only felt movements with my second during my 16th week so you're not too far off. I had an anterior plancenta with my first too, so it may be that - it will take a bit longer for you to feel the baby no matter how many you've had before!

Third pregnancy .. only started feeling at 18 weeks :) don't worry xx says she Blush

gemdrop84 · 19/09/2012 20:10

I'm 23+6 with 2nd dc and only started feeling odd movements at 18/19 wks, even then it was fluttery type feelings and not every day so I wouldn't worry Smile

I did with my second, a couple of weeks earlier, but this time with no 3 I've only started feeling things for sure about 17 weeks. I would have been worried, but I have a doppler and also was told at a private scan at 16w I have anterior placenta. This wasnt mentioned at all at my 12w scan, and had I not had the 16w scan and the Doppler I would have been very worried!
