Was going to name change but can't be arsed. V old, nearly 52 and have missed a period. Not unusual am peri menopausal and have missed about two or three completely over the last two years. Absolutely no chance of being pregnant up till that last period was due, no sex Blush. However, I may be showing my old brain here, but how soon after a period is due and doesn't arrive, does the next egg get released? I am now 12 days overdue but we dtd six days ago. Is there any chance I could get pregnant?

never really thought about it before but if I miss a period does the next batch of hoemones/egg etc just start rolling out again?

Sorry, being dense and extremely ratty at the moment Grin

Bump, come on ladies I need to know. Also when can I do a test?

Don't know if you can get pregnant but you can take the test from about 3 days overdue, so I'd just get a cheap stick from the supermarket and pee on it! That should put your mind at rest (hopefully!).

But I've missed a period, late by 11 days and there was no chance of me being pregnant then. It's only after my late period I had sex, six days ago so does that mean I'm into my next cycle? Di I wait until my next period is due and then test cos surely the test wouldn't show positive only a few days after sex?!

I think the time your egg is released depends on the length of your normal cycle. I think it is around day 10 for a 28 day cycle but don't quote me on that.

ah I see what you mean (I think), well yes perhaps 6 days after sex is rather early to test. As to whether or when you have ovulated since your period was missed - that is probably anyones guess if you are peri menopausal. Under other circumstances two weeks after sex should be enough to be able to test for pregnancy and get a reliable result.

I guess if you are peri menopausal then ovulation could be bloody anytime!!! Normally, on a regular cycle it's days 9 to 12 ish
I don't think 6 days past sex would show if you are pregnant yet on a test, if you assume that was potentially a time when you could have ovulated, then you would be looking at 2 weeks ish after sex that a test would show anything, although test these days are quite sensitive so week and a half in some cases
Does that make any sense???

Thanks, I think I get it. I will have another week to wait now until I can test!!
