Hope someone can help on medicines for this. I know some other mums have had this so maybe this itchyness is a pregnancy side effect. GP thinks it is psoriasis rather than thrush (but is checking). In the meantime, in case it is psoriasis she has recommended using either timodene or a rather strong hydrocortisone ointment (dermovate? - something like that). I'd rather not use anything too strong (I'm 30 weeks) so should i stick to the timodene? Am I right in thinking this is not a steroid or is, at any rate, less strong? Not sure why I haven't been given canesten since that's worked before but happy to use timodene if people don't think it is too strong.

Thanks

i would stick to canesten tbh.

i thought timodene was a bit strong tbh, but then it has been prescribed for Jessica's nappy rash on occasions.... go with what you feel safe with.

Thanks. I didn't realise timodene was so strong. A bit worrying to be honest.

i would honestly say it was too strong, i was the canesten queen during pregnancy, but thati s all the doc would prescribe as it was the only "safe" thing.... or so she told me!

If you use the timodene, don't wear your best pants! Wink It stains everything yellow!

wow, glad I asked. Stopping timodene now! really annoyed as GP recommended it for psoriasis round c/section scar in first trimester as well. Just hope it hasn't done any harm.

for the canesten, did you use the red packet or the blue one (I think the blue one has the antibiotic or whatever it is in it)?

I'm suffering with what I think is thrush (25w pg), although it's not like normal thrush (haven't got lots of discharge, sorry if TMI!). I presume it's thrush as it came on after I had antibiotics for a UTI. Anyway, I'm using the canesten combi pack, which I think was a white and red box. My MW said the pessary was fine to use. The cream really eases the itching whatever is causing it! Could you contact your MW and see what she suggests? You def. can't take the oral tablet whilst pg (well, I was told not to by the MW anyway).
