When did you start nesting?

I'm 30 weeks and for a while now I've been thinking about cleaning and sorting. Today I've got stuck in. So far, since dropping DS at school, I've cleaned the bathroom, kitchen, dusted the whole flat, have done 2 loads of washing and am about to start on the floors! There's still plenty I want to do - sorting through drawers and cupboards etc.

The only problem with this is that it isn't easy to do when you're pregnant!! xx

I'm 31 weeks and have been doing some deep cleaning today. Tidying out cupboards, bagged up 3 binbags of old clothes/ shoes etc and hoovered all the flat inc the tiny nooks and crannys!

I don't think I did this with my first though!

I'm 35+2 and getting the urge now. Got a week booked off work next week and really looking forward to just completely gutting my house ready for our little girl. I don't know what the whole nesting thing is about but basically I just want to be organised with less to do once my girl's here. Cleaning - not so fun, but organising and setting up stuff - cant wait! I'm a bit sad really hehe x

Don't think I did this whilst pregnant with DS but can't seem to stop myself this time!

Can't wait to organise stuff either but I keep noticing little things that I need to clean first! Sorted out my wardrobe the other day and got rid of loads of clothes and have started washing all the baby stuff lol xx

It's been a gradual thing. We've lived in the same rented flat for four years...it's a tad....aged. Things I've never noticed before are suddenly intolerable - mainly the amount of crap I have accumulated over the years! We've had a big trip to the local dump, tons of stuff has gone to the charity shop, and we have another dump trip scheduled. I've also just had the downstairs carpets professionally cleaned and literally just this minute been contemplating hoovering the stairs - while at 36 weeks pregnant with a clunky Dyson!

I've got curtains to go up and many things to wash. I've never been so house proud in my life! DH, bless him, came home the other night all excited about an AMAZING steam cleaner he wants to buy and came out with the immortal words: don't say a word, this is MY nesting.

Just one more room left to sort - we're not having a nursery as we plan to co-sleep but what is currently the music studio/my office has turned into a dumping ground over the years. The room will partly be used by me to change/nurse the baby in during the night to give working DH sleep time - so I've become obsessed with clearing it all out. It's a massive room and holds three pianos, two vintage organs (not the big church kind!), a big mixing desk, and my work desk. It also has two chest of drawers, a pine shelving unit thing holding baby things and a vintage 16 track reel to reel tape recording thing. All these things are lined around the walls of the room but in the middle is just junk that all has to go! I have some pretty fairy lights and have commandeered myself a little corner with an armchair and space to feed/change the baby. But now my nesting desires outstrip my physical abilities and I am dependent on DH to shift the heavy stuff around - and he procrastinates!

Phew! Nesting is awesome!

I am 36 weeks and cried yesturday because I couldn't get the right curtains Blush.

Don't ever move house at 35 weeks, it plays havoc with the nesting instinct!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 18/09/2012 18:34

I was feeling the urge from about 33 weeks, but I was too knackered to do anything! By the time I finished work at 36 weeks I was feeling really stressed over the state of the house and I really got stuck in. I've mostly been ruthlessly decluttering and tidying rather than cleaning but its been a big job Blush

37 weeks and it's not hit me yet. I am a lazy cow when it comes to housework though so this surprises me not a jot.

I have been nesting right from the start. I have a real urge just to get everything organised. I'm finding it really frustrating as it is too much hard work to do everything (31weeks) with a toddler in tow. Also my other doc's just undo most of what I have done anyway. It is making me a right miserable old cow!
