Sickness in second trimester

Hi, I just wondered if anyone has suffered this. I can't seem to keep food down. I eat, then later on I'm sick. I'll start coughing, then everything just comes up. I'm worried that I'm depriving baby. I try eating cereal or drink meal replacements such as build up instead.

I also seem to be getting every cold going. It's a bit grim just now. First trimester was fine! Just discovered my docs surgery is closed today so can't get an appointment. Worried about time I'm taking off work being ill too.

Any advice? Thanks!

Could be hyperemesis? What week are you?

I have my second cold of the pregnancy too, it's rough isnt it! My teeth are throbbing with my headache! Boss gets very antsy about sick days but i struggled in last time and nobody was grateful, so this time i'm just lying on the sofa.. In the second trimester i think ibuprofen isnt TOOOO awful and it really helps. This is not medical advice..

I feel your pain, my first trimester wasn't bad, then i hit 11 weeks and i have been horrifically poorly been in hospital twice.

every morning without fail i spend 30 minutes hacking up my tummy lining. have also come out in a cold as well, am going to the Dr today as i keep going very faint and have another water infection i think.

Re ibuprofen...i was told by my midwife the 3rd trimester is the only time is is slightly safe to take

Thanks! I know you can take paracetomal, but even the thought of swallowing a pill makes me feel nauseous. I will if I don't feel any better. I'll make a docs appointment and see what they say. Just annoying that today of all days they are closed!

Last illness I had in my first trimester I ended up in hospital with a temperature and dehydration. I was struggling to catch my breath too. Luckily this time I've just lost my voice and have a sore throat/chest. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm 16 weeks and 1st trimester was also fine, really really tired but no sickness or anything else at all. I am off work today because I have a stinker of a cold (I am never usually ill, ever! think immune system is weaker?) and have been feeling queasy, especially in the morning, but luckily not actually been sick.

Maybe for some people its reversed???

No advice, sorry, just sympathy!!! Brew

I can't swallow pills either, i have to have all medicine in liquid form.. banana flavour amoxicillin anyone???

I have been taking dissolveable paracetamol it doesn't taste nice but if you can get even half a glass down you it does help, its more effective than pills also.

Dissolvable paracetamol also good for gargling if you have a sore throat I think?
