I am nearly 26 weeks pg with no 2. I have a funny feeling this baby is coming a bit early. I physically feel now how I did at about 36 weeks pregnant with dd - same twinges and cumbersomeness and sense of something coming soon. Is this just because it is second time? Wondered if anyone else had feeling baby going to be a bit early then it was? I don't mean it is going to come very prematurely, just that I kind of feel it's going to be three or four weeks early.
(DD was bang on time).

I had a c-section booked for my 2nd baby and was sure I wasn't going to make it til then. Twinges, baby feeling low, heavy etc and a feeling of something going wrong.
She wasn't early though. And all good.

monkeynumberthree · 16/09/2012 22:53

I spent my entire 2nd pregnancy absolutely convinced that DD2 was going to come early. No tangible reason, just a powerful feeling that she'd be a couple of weeks early, even though DD1 arrived on her due date. In the end DD2 was a week late, and I was extremely grumpy about it, as I felt like I was three weeks overdue by that point.

Sorry, not much encouragement, I know... Grin

VeremyJyle · 16/09/2012 22:56

Maybe, just a thought, its like feeling kicks earlier in subsequent pregnancies, everything is more relaxed, so you're feeling all the twinges earlier? In my second and third I felt alot more pressure down there and felt convinced they would be early

VeremyJyle · 16/09/2012 22:56

To add - they weren't Sad

humblebumble · 16/09/2012 22:57

I was convinced DS2 was coming late, DS1 was induced, he was 1.5 weeks early.

rounynotsquary · 16/09/2012 23:27

That's all encouraging. I don't think early
is a good thing (though would prefer not late).

DD2 was due on the 17th of may, ELCS booked for 39 weeks but I was convinced she would arrive early, waters broke and section done at 37 weeks. You could be right, I'm glad I suspected as I was prepared, had everything organised etc.

Marmiteisyummy · 17/09/2012 07:26

Was convinced, absolutely, that DS would be early. Born at 40+13.

comixminx · 17/09/2012 07:30

Felt a lot of Braxton Hicks from about week 35 so I did feel it was likely the baby would come at least a but early - DS born at 39+1 so only slightly early.

weegiemum · 17/09/2012 07:32

I felt that with all 3 of mine.
Dd1 was 3 days early - just as well, she was 9lb12
Ds was 10 days early - and was 9lb3, goodness knows what he would have been at term!
Dd2 I didnt have quitethe same sense of "early-ness" but I was induced (twice, it didn't work the first time!) at 37 weeks as I was getting very unwell with a kidney condition.

I never got to my due date in 3 full term pregnancies!

MrsJK · 17/09/2012 07:33

I was adamant that DC was going to arrive early ( with no real reason to back this up) call it intuition but PFB arrived at 37+3 Wink

DolomitesDonkey · 17/09/2012 07:38

No, my first was premature and I never thought I'd make it to my elcs date with number two, but I did. It felt like a major victory!

IsSpringSprangedYet · 17/09/2012 07:42

I can't say I really felt... anything. I had more aches and pains with the more pregnancies I had, but didn't ever think this ones going to be early/late. I'm just aiming for early Jan with this one.

DS1 was 41+1, DS2 was 39+1 and DS3 was 39+5. One late, one early, one nearly on time. I can never tell!

blondiep14 · 17/09/2012 07:47

I thought this one would be.

Then at 37 weeks midwife heavily hinted baby may well be early as was 3/5ths engaged. Still waiting. 40 weeks tomorrow.

Trying not to be grumpy but feels like I'm already overdue!

WandaDoff · 17/09/2012 08:00

I thought DD would be early. She's my 3rd.
Even the midwife thought she'd be early.

She came on her due date.

Gingerbreadlatte · 17/09/2012 08:07

Im on DC2 and think the same. Im 33 wks and im convinced I wont see my due date. Probably because my pelvic floor is so buggered that it feels like it will drop out any time now rather than a feeling that it will actually be early!

sparklekitty · 17/09/2012 11:04

I was convinced that this LO would arrive early. Had some issues with bleeding and she's big so I've had everything ready since 33 weeks. I'm now 39 weeks and had 3 weeks of twinges, contractions, bump dropped and feeling like she'll be here anytime. Tried lots of things to help her on her way too but after spending yesterday in hospital again I've given up and accepted that she's probably gonna end up being late now. I've just found the waiting and hoping exhausting!

randomimposter · 17/09/2012 11:45

i know there's no science to this, but feel quite reassured by the number of you who felt baby would be early and it wasn't. With DS1 my waters broke at 36+4 and after a failed induction he arrived by Emcs at 37w. I'm now 37+2 and have a section booked for 2 weeks today but have been fretting i won't get there. I REALLY need to last till this Saturday at least as otherwise me and babe are virtually homeless...

I am hoping it works the other way round - I'm 39+4 with DC1 and convinced it will be incredibly late....hopefully I'm wrong!

CaptainHetty · 17/09/2012 12:11

I was convinced from 30 weeks onwards this one was going to appear early. I'm now 38 weeks so she isn't! I think we just get paranoid and worry about everything.

jenbird · 17/09/2012 13:00

Have to say I think you are just more aware of everything the 2nd time round so you feel it all a lot earlier.

furrygoldone · 17/09/2012 13:01

I was convinced this baby would be early, I'm 40+6 Smile

Goldrill · 17/09/2012 13:07

DD1 was 40+13; am now 36 weeks with DD2 and wouldn't be surprised if she arrived any day now. She was transverse until last weekend and then turned head down and since then I have sooo much pressure, twinginess, cramping, stretchy feelings and generally weird stuff going on down there that I am amazed my poor, battered pelvic floor is still making any kind of effort to keep her in place! And am very, very uncomfortable - didn't have this at all with DD1. I really quite wanted her to be late until she dropped as am working until due date - but now the sooner she arrives the better!

She will, no doubt, be as contrary as her sister and not show up for another 6 weeks. (6 weeks! 6 bloody weeks!!)

lackingNameChangeInspiration · 17/09/2012 15:16

no I was sure no 1 was on the way and battoned down the hatches, refused visitors etc, then due date came and went..
