I am going insane

40+4 today with ds2. Was 3cm on thursday when my Ob examined me, had bloody show since thurs pm, tmi but had the runs since Wednesday and yesterday had a backache which progressively got worse as the day went on and started having irregular contractions at around 6pm. By 1am they were every 6 minutes and quite painful although manageable. This lasted until about 5am when I tried to get some sleep. They stopped but restarted again at around 8am after a walk and were every 4 mins. Then after an hour they started to wane and I've only had the odd one and some bh's since. Still having a show and have lost my appetite.

I am absolutely gutted, I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow and really thought last night that I would give birth today.

Is there any chance my contractions will start again naturally soon? Tried walking and been bouncing on my ball but to no avail :(

Nipple tweaking. Fondle those babies like there's no tomorrow. Worked for me both times around.

FoxyRoxy · 16/09/2012 16:43

I have been! Not got a breast pump so it's slightly more painful, will get on and do some more!

Second the nipple tweaking, and walk up and down the stairs constantly!

Sounds like its not going to be long til your little one arrives, you don't have to get induced if you don't want to - ask them to monitor you but you're not even technically overdue until 42 weeks so personally I'd be refusing induction if showing so many signs of starting naturally :)

AnnieLobeseder · 16/09/2012 17:47

Painful? It's supposed to feel nice! (lewd Wink)

AnnieLobeseder · 16/09/2012 17:48

Would second that about not being induced if you don't want to be.

CouvelaireHair · 16/09/2012 17:51

It looks like you're starting to go into labour. Why are you booked in for induction? Is it possible to wait and see if you do it yourself?

FoxyRoxy · 16/09/2012 18:47

Annie I must have sensitive nips!

couvelaire I'm in Spain and they do things very differently here, I was offered an induction at 39 weeks if I was "fed up" which I declined! When he said I was 3cm he offered me an induction for Friday but I wanted to see if baby would come on his own as ds1 came at 40+4.

Any progress Foxy?

FoxyRoxy · 18/09/2012 17:41

I'm going in for an induction tomorrow (41 weeks). Have had stop start contractions yesterday and today, went to the hospital last night as I wanted to get the baby checked on the monitor and despite having contractions all the way there up until they put me on the damn monitor I only managed 2 in 20 while actually strapped on. And then they started again straight after :-/ I think it's partly down to anxiety (over what I don't know!) and I think waiting is going to make that anxiety worse so I called my dr this morning and he's booked me in for tomorrow. He also told me I needed to have a quick delivery! So hopefully I can update about my new arrival tomorrow :)

Thank you for thinking of me Thanks

Good luck Foxy.

Foxy, if you are still waiting, have you tried jasmine oil? Rubbing a little on the belly was recommended by my midwives, and really made a difference. There are also some reflexology points which might help too- google will offer pages of them.
Good luck or congratulations, depending on what has been happening!
