Morning ladies.
I'm having a bit of a moment, I am 19 weeks pregnant and have been feeling the baby moving for some time but suddenly I haven't felt the baby move for a day. Is it something to worry about, because I am!! Also, is it ok to sleep on your right side while pregnant? I know sleeping on the left side is good for the circulation but what about your right side?
Thanks!!

Were you busy during the day you havent felt it? Could you have just not really noticed it? 19 weeks is early and its probably just that the baby has moved a bit.

But, call your MW anyway. Best to get checked!

I have alternated sides throughout my pregnancy (33 weeks) due to having sore hips, and it doesnt seem to make a difference!

I've been extremely tired, as I work 6 days a week and I thought perhaps that could be it. If I haven't felt the baby move today I thought I'd ring midwife tomorrow. But i did read that they don't worry about that so much until after 24 weeks. Just worrying so much!!! X

Have you tried the cold/hot drink thing? Mine seems to get really kicky when I sit on the sofa with my feet up so Im kind of on my back but not totally flat. You could try that.

I had days around that stage where I didnt feel anything. And with DD I remember not feeling a thing for about 3 days in the later stages.

Try not to worry!

What's the hot/cold drink thing? I plan to keep my feet up all day and do as little as possible! I'm suddenly needing the loo at lot more so perhaps the baby has moved as is now dancing on my bladder Blush

Thanks for the reassurance, MN is a good place for that!! Xx

Get some really cold milk/juice, sit on the sofa and drink it. Or have a cup of tea. The extremes in temp are usually enough to make it have a squirm! Dont worry if it doesnt. At 19 weeks its still so small it could just be kicking out into the fluid and not connecting with a part of you that you can feel! :)

freya86 · 16/09/2012 09:48

I'll try that!!! Thanks

We have our 20 weeks scan v soon and I think im just getting worried, I was like this before my 12 week scan as well!!

Fingers crossed I feel the baby today!! Will put my mind at rest. Hope you are well and your pregnancy is going smoothly xx

Just a quick pointer - in later pregnancy it is best not to faff around with cold drinks, if you can't remember having felt the baby for a while. It is best to just go straight to L&D and gt them to monitor - lying if you must. Trying cold drinks, lying on your left side for an hour etc, just waste - what could be - precious time.

OP hope your scan goes well x

Im 24+1, with anterior high placenta and movements still arent all that regular, i'm feeling something everyday but wondering when / if i should worry. I had same with DS1 so i should know better but you cant help worrying

freya I used to have moments of panic when I couldn't feel baby move (dd now 10 months). If you can't feel baby move within an hour I would suggest going to the FAU or triage. I used to do this quite a lot during my pg as the placenta was in front of baby nd to worry about not feeling her. Every time there was nothing wrong always heartbeat etc, but for peace of mind it's laws better to be safe than sorry. More than likely everything is 100% fine though.

Thanks everyone! Glad to report I have been feeling movement on and off today and just felt a big kick! Grin think it helped that I've sat with my feet up most of the day and taken it easy. Big relief x
