Morning sickness - if I don't get it (so badly second time around) that's bad right?

With DD my morning sickness kicked in as soon as I got the postive result (at 6 weeks) this time round, I don't feel so bad, am just 6 wks. Wondering what other's experience of M/S is, did you have different pregnancies? And should I be worried. I am feeling more excited about this pregnancy, and am healthier - but that shouldn't mean anything right?

With my first I spent most of my time in bed feeling sick and crying about it. With this one it was nowhere near as bad, it may be because I knew what to expect and it didn't kick in until 7-9 weeks. People always say each pregnancy is different and bar a few problems picked up by the sonographer (extra fluid) this one has been much easier so far. I am also much healthier and in a more stable place this time so I don't know if that helps?

Congratulations!

Mine was so much better this time around. To be honest it was largely present around week 8 and 9 but much more manageable than the constant retching I had last time. Am 18 weeks now and all is fine so try not to worry!

MadMonkeys · 16/09/2012 08:40

I don't think you should worry. My experience has been different both times - just be glad that the ms isn't too bad this time!

IawnCont · 16/09/2012 08:44

I had hyperemesis first time round- severe sickness, was hospitalized 4 times. 2nd time, nothing at all. Both resulted in healthy babies. :)

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 16/09/2012 08:45

Ds1-cope able ms
Ds2-ms horrific.i lost weight. Was exhausted and was prescribed anti sickness tablets
Ds3- hardly any at all. I got the odd day of feeling off. In fact, this has been my easiest pg.

Try not to worry. All pg are different.

Good luck!

I was like you first time - nausea from before BFP.

Second time serious nausea didn't kick in until more like 10 weeks.

3rd time was more like the first.

3 girls here beside me, 2 watching Peppa Pig and 1 being carried around by her da.

Amnewtoallthis · 16/09/2012 08:52

Ahhh, yes my DD is really healthy - I don't mind trade off for a healthy bub, but I feel very different, is good to know it can actually be better 2nd time round. Since I had DD I've been ultra healthy - doing lots of 10k runs, yoga etc - anyway maybe in a couple of weeks I'll be back moaning!

I guess also my age worries me - I'm 42 and was 37 last time round.

The sickness in this second pregnancy has been much better than my first :)

EdMcDunnough · 16/09/2012 09:05

I had it very badly with all three, in fact I still feel a bit rough at 24 weeks with this one.

I'm never doing it again! I think OP that it can vary hugely. I just wish it had with mine. Please try not to worry.

PogoBob · 16/09/2012 09:06

with DD I had a week of nausea at 8 weeks and nothing else. This time (DS) I had all day sickness until 16 weeks which seems to have come back now at 25 weeks!

This pregnancy couldn't be any different to my first so try not to compare too much (IMHO)

foxylady123 · 16/09/2012 09:07

First time sick as a dog morning, noon and night right from start all the way though! This time was sick from about 7 weeks to week 14 but not as often as DD1. It's normal for it to be different try not to worry.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 16/09/2012 09:14

I've had hardly any morning sickness in this pregnancy (2nd) and am now 35 weeks with what looks like a perfectly healthy DC and no complications. I had quite bad, but manageable, morning sickness with DC1 and I got pre-eclampsia, leading to him being born very small.

CollieEye · 16/09/2012 09:14

Pregnancy with DS was awful. Morning sickness all day and night for 16 weeks. Had to get off the bus to work, vomit in the gutter and get onto the next bus. Made me feel great being stared at in horror by passing commuters.

Next pregnancy with DD, not one single instance of morning sickness.

Both perfectly healthy babies. Don't fret about it & be pleased this pregnancy is easier on that front. Smile

pumpkinsweetie · 16/09/2012 09:17

Don't worry if you don't get it!
I have 4 dds and only got slight nausea with dd2, i never vomited with any of them! Grin

BionicEmu · 16/09/2012 11:27

First time I had hardly any sickness, was only sick a few times. This time round I've been really bad, sick 10+ times a day, although finally easing now I'm 20 weeks. Both boys as well!

3rdbump · 16/09/2012 13:17

With 1st baby i had horrific MS from 6 weeks - hyperemisis and was hospitalized the once - had it up till about 20 weeks where it eased off but never went away!
2nd baby - MS started at around 6 weeks - nothing major atall - felt very well 2 after 12 weeks
3rd pregnancy - horrendous hyperemisis started at 8 weeks lasted till 13 weeks - hospitalized twice - sickness got better at 17 weeks, now at 27 weeks feeling much much better, just heart burn and alot of indigestion and backache - so far the worst pregnancy!!

OyOfMidWorld · 16/09/2012 16:02

With DS I didn't really suffer morning sickness but I really struggled to have any appetite for food. I just didn't want to eat.

With DD I was horribly nauseous and often sick until around 16 weeks.

StateofConfusion · 17/09/2012 11:08

Dc1+2 nausea and sickness non stop, dc3 nothing, maybe mild nausea around 10wks ish!

Means nothing!
