I have just realised everytime i sit down i am up again cleaning obssesivley. I thought i was taking today easy (due to sore tummy) but realised i have cleaned the whole house, sorted out all the washing and iorning (which normaly takes me all week!) and i have cleaned the kitchen sick about four times loving the smell of bleach. (last preganancy i went through 3-4 bottles of the stuff a wk!)Blush
Why is this? why do we get like this especially when you get to the stage in pregancy where its really iuncomforatable to move half the time?

Wanted to know what other people did whilst in the 'nesting' stage?

for some reason i just had to defrost the freezer last time, a week before birth, i broke it and spent the next week fighting the insurance company to get me another one before baby arrived.

I never got this - I never felt the need to sort the house out or tidy or do anything like that.

ghosty · 18/03/2006 22:01

Like eidsvold ... I never had 'nesting' feelings. I was looking forward to it too; expecting that for once in my life I might know what it is like to be tidy ... but no, nothing, nada, zilch Grin

the only thing I can put my hand up to was that I decided the day before going in for my c-section to give the house a clean and tidy so I did not have to do it after baby came home... BUT it was out of a practical sense not some great urge to nest.

I remember sorting our all of our photgraphs are aranging them in chronological order. a feat never repeaed after the birth o DD!!!

My DH seemed to have it the first 2 times I was in labour.

1st time, I was standing at the door with my bags and he was in the kitchen making snacks for the hospital. When he finally got that done he decided the bins needed emptying.

2nd time he was cleaning the kitchen and I mean really cleaning (in behind the microwave and everything!).

With number 3 I did feel it a bit more and needed to have everything in the house in order.

Yesterday I cleaned out the linen closet, did 2 loads of laundry and cleaned the kitchen including several of the cupboards. Today I am considering tackling dd2's bedroom as somehow it has got to the point where it looks like a bomb has hit it - that will be a big enough job in itself.

I think I am nesting - baby due anyday now. Grin

CatBert · 19/03/2006 11:10

It IS weird... I always insisted I was not nesting, until DH pointed out that I was in fact cleaning like he'd certainly never seen before (or since Grin and getting cross with him for coming home and well, generally being there and making the place look untidy.

Miaou · 19/03/2006 11:25

I did it just hours before I went into labour - I'm usually quite relaxed about housework, but I was going through the house like a whirling dervish - just couldn't do things fast enough! It was like a huge adrenalin/energy rush and I couldn't sit still.

Could do with it happening on a weekly basis really Wink

colditz · 19/03/2006 11:32

I would be nesting - but I need the carpet laying in our bedroom. It is actually making me irrationally upset, not being able to clean what I want to clean. i have a whole plan about where things are going once it is all done, but I can't carry it out and it is p!$$!ng me off soooooo much!!!

Dunnyjo · 19/03/2006 20:54

ok i have got dh to move out the cooker so i could scrub behind it tiles floor and everything. Got a new washing machine so feel like my clothes ar cleasner and also got dh to put up shelves in cubords today so i could have more storeage for bedding and baby stuff. Now i cant move i am totally washed out. Being one here is my chill out time now Grin oh and oi cleaned the kitchen floor/bathroom gees i was never like this before. think dh is enjoying the up to scratch look in the house lately though

My husband nested on the 2 days before I had my baby. Cleaned house from top to bottom, even cleaned both cars. Didn't tell him I was having small contractions, as didn't want to panic him, but he said he sensed the baby was coming soon! I didn't do any nesting as I was too knackered.

nickyp08 · 24/03/2006 10:37

colditz..... ditto we have been doing up our house for the past 2 years (totally gutted it when we bought it) still got our bedroom to decorate and the stairs and the living room and not to mention carpets for those mentioned plus the other two bedrooms and i myself am getting REALLY irritated at not being able to clean what i want to... i got 6 weeks left til my section and i really want it finished before baby arrives... but seeing as my BP has gone up i can't do anything about it... getting all the paint, skirting boards and coving this weekend so my bloke is gunna be really busy and will deserve his 2 weeks paternity leave... as for the carpets fingers crossed.... in the mean time i am cleaning what we have finished as if the queen herself was coming round for lunch... at least it makes up for the mess in the unfinished rooms
