Just realised how awful I am with children. I'm 27 weeks and have been at a wedding all day with children around, I have no idea how to talk to them!

I really am shit with kids, will I be shit with my own kids? I'm worried now, I just assumed it would come naturally but so far....oh dear

it is Different with your own. Smile you can do this, I would struggle looking after my own 2 at a wedding 27 weeks pregnant so don't worry!

Totally different with your own! The good thing about your own is that you get eased into how to interact with them. I'm still rubbish with other kids, but seem to be managing pretty damn well with DS Grin

I was temporarily left in charge of a baby at a wedding when I was pregnant with ds1 as her brother had been stung by a bee and her mum had to deal with him. She cried the whole time, while I patted her leg ineffectually and uselessly. When her mum came back I told her 'it cried'. Note not 'she'; 'it'.

Now I've got a toddler and another one on the way and I can assure you it comes very naturally when it's your own. Your instinct just kicks in straight away. Even dh has got the hang of it and he used to be completely allergic to anyone under 18!

I'm crap with kids. I don't like them, and they don't like me Grin

It's completely different with your own, DS is 18 months and he is my whole world. We play together, I entertain him no problem (and always have) and I've finally talked DH into trying for number 2!!

Believe me, it's a completely different kettle of fish when it's your own baby :)
