I know this has been talked about before but I can't seem to get an answer through the archives!
Does anyone know if it's ok to take mumomega as well as normal pregnancy multivit/ minerals - I take Sanatogen pronatal but as a fussy non-fish-eating veggie, I'm worried about the omegas. Before ttc, I used to take a veggie multivit with added omegas.
Anyone take both, and when should i start? I'm 17wks. (tried asking my mw and she hadnt heard of mumomega, as i didn't know exactly what was in it, I gave up!)

I just took the Boots Own pregnancy multivitamin (think it was pregnacare) and when I didn't feel like fish drank one of those yoghurt drinks that come with added omega3. Otherwise all the supplements cost a fortune. My frined is ttc and she was buying prenatal, omegamum, zinc for her dh etc and it came to £26 for a months supply Shock

Don't know about mumomega, but you can take \link{http://www.healthyandessential.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=43\Mor-DHA} during pg. It does contain Vitamin E but nothing else apart from the fish oil - so you might want to check vit E levels but otherwise should be OK I would think. I didn't take it with any other supplements because I wanted to avoid constipation from the iron. You don't really need a vitamin/mineral supplement if you're eating healthily.

Blush - not always as healthily as i should! Some days really not hungry and only recently stopped being sick!

Hi. I am taking both the mumomega and sanatogen pro natal vitamins. I only take one per day but you can take upto 3 of the mumomega each day. MW says it's perfectly safe. I bought them when they were 3 for 2 at Boots as normally they are £12 per pack.

I took Mumomega for the last 3 months and for 6 months when b/f. I took Pregnacare too for whole of pregnancy. I seem to remember on a leaflet in the box a graph showing when omega oils are most needed by the baby, which is in the last 3 months and the 1st year of their life for brain formation. Didn't have any side effects. I think it really helped my skin which was getting very dry.

I think it contains fish and Evening Primrose Oil.

sarahlou1uk · 19/04/2006 17:13

Mumomega does contain primrose oil but virgin primrose oil which is nowhere near as potent as full primrose oil. This makes it quite safe to use before, during and after pregnancy.

Another source: Zita West does a DHA supplement, which I gather is the bit in fish oil which is recommended for healthy brain development in babies. She also does vit and mineral supplements for each trimester, TTC and for after the birth. They ain't cheap, but are good quality supplements, and I don't take it all every day. You can get the supplements from her website (www.zitawest.com)
