Great! Am 19 weeks and have just seemed to have got so big in the last week and can no longer comfortably fit my clothes, especially jeans!

A delivery of next maternity stuff including yoga pants arrived today and I just feel so comfortable!!

When did you finally admit your ordinary clothes had to go?

At 12 weeks - but I am expecting twins!

I feel much better in mat wear too. It's much more flattering and I now look pregnant rather than just fat! Grin

FirstTimeMumma · 12/09/2012 17:28

I haven't bought a single item of mat clothing and im now 39 weeks! Have been signed off work since 27 weeks and since then have lived in pj's or just kicking about in my undies(at home obviously)Grin i am very please to say i can still button my jeans tho - albeit with great difficulty!!! but haven't been able to leave the house much and therefore didn't have the need to buy any larger clothes!

sparklekitty · 12/09/2012 17:50

Ah, I remember putting on maternity jeans for the first time. So comfortable. They no longer fit :( My bump is waaaay too big now so I'm in leggings and yoga trousers and feel like a frump.

pinpan · 12/09/2012 22:22

I succumbed to maternity jeans at 12 weeks, and remember thinking I can never go back - elastic waists are so comfy. Grin My bump lies so low that no trousers will stay up for long though, coz there's nothing to hang on to. Didn't get maternity tops until about 20 weeks, and still mostly wearing stretchy but 'normal' things on the top half and everything is getting tight but only 2 weeks to go so I'll survive somehow.

panicnotanymore · 13/09/2012 09:37

I've been in leggings and long tops since 12 weeks. I think I'll stay in this 'uniform' until the weather gets too cold. It looks ok so far, as I only look pregnant from the side.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 13/09/2012 09:50

5 weeks. In my defence, this is baby no 3, I already had some clothes and I know they are more comfy than ordinary ones, so why suffer since I'm going to need to wear them at some point, I may aswell get my money's worth!

stowsettler · 13/09/2012 10:00

12 weeks. Mind you, a lot of my 'baby weight' was in fact crisp weight, from the RAVENOUS hunger of the first 10 weeks! However, I can still fit into a lot of my normal clothes, providing they don't have waistbands which are too restrictive...
Luuurving maternity jeans though. I want to keep wearing them forever!

panicnotanymore · 13/09/2012 10:07

The thing is wearing ordinary clothes is uncomfortable, looks uncomfortable and has the unfortunate effect of making one look fat. Maternity wear is much more flattering. I think pregnant women look gorgeous. Most men do too. Show it off girls Grin

I haven't bought maternity wear, as I'm a SAHM who lives in trackies.

Before pregnancy: Primark size 10
Now at 37+2: Primark size 14 joggers/16 tops

numbertaker · 13/09/2012 10:34

I loved this phase. I found the HM hennes stuff really good.

Enjoy

PeshwariNaan · 13/09/2012 12:04

I was in maternity jeans at 7 weeks. I bloated up so much as soon as I got pregnant that the jeans had to go. Started wearing other stuff btw. 12 and 14 weeks. Now I'm 20 weeks and absolutely huge. (It's my first baby!)

Lexiindisguise · 13/09/2012 12:52

I went into maternity jeans at 14 weeks, but still in my own normal tops/dresses/leggings at 16 weeks. My jeans just got so uncomfortable and I wear casual clothes for work, so was fed up with feeling squished! Have had to put a whole lot of shirts and more fitted tops away but still can get into most stretchy things.

theTramp · 13/09/2012 13:42

11 weeks and maternity jeans had to be bought. There's v little left in my wardrobe that fits me - chest as much as belly. Weirdly I still feel like I look fat rather than preggers, despite fact everyone else thinks I look pregnant. I think once bumps a bit more solid I'll feel less who ate all the pies

theTramp · 13/09/2012 13:43

BTW - do pop on maternity clothes thread & share your fave spots for buying good mat wear

TheCountessOlenska · 13/09/2012 13:46

Can't wait for my delivery of maternity jeans and leggings! 15 weeks and can't do up my normal jeans, have been living in leggings and long tops. My first pregnancy I was in all my normal clothes till about 30 weeks Shock - don't know what's happened this time around!!

Gingerpanther27 · 14/09/2012 13:45

9 weeks the jeans just wouldn't meet Blush and that was all baby weight this baby doesn't will eventually have my sweet tooth the whole no chocolate thing is quite upsetting Sad

MaMaPo · 14/09/2012 14:21

I stopped wearing normal jeans at about 21 weeks, and only just bought and wore my first pair of maternity jeans (now 27 weeks). But I wear a lot of skirts and dresses, which still fit - makes me wonder why I've been subconsciously buying maternity-appropriate clothes all these years.

Gingerpanther27 · 16/09/2012 23:06

Has anyone else used an elastic band to make their normal clothes last a bit longer? Someone mentioned it to me last night and I'm wondering how practical it really is? Hmm

BionicEmu · 17/09/2012 09:54

Yes, I used an elastic band on my jeans, through the buttonhole and then looped around the button. TBH I'm not sure if it made my clothes last longer, but it certainly made them comfier. Especially useful if you get more bloated as the day goes on.

Think I was using an elastic band between about weeks 8-14, before finally going into maternity clothes.

patchesmcp · 17/09/2012 14:34

I did the elastic band thing too, but used a hair bobble! I also bought the bump band things and found them really good. I've just discovered I'm expecting my second so all my maternity stuff will be coming out again, though hopefully not for ages!

nananaps · 17/09/2012 16:10

It was last week for me, at 19 weeks...SOooooo comfy! Grin

RightUpMyRue · 17/09/2012 16:23

I think I was about 8-9 weeks when I succumbed to the trousers. There's still loads of room in them though but my ordinary trousers and most of my jeans are far too uncomfy to wear. I'm still in my boyfriend jeans but skinnies and work trousers are deffo out.

I haven't really got much of a bump, a small one, but there's plenty of bloating and some fat too Blush I've actually lost about half a stone since becoming PG though so hopefully there's more bump than fat going on!

cupcake78 · 17/09/2012 17:08

I remember going shopping for maternity clothes around 16weeks and crying they were so comfortable and I was so happy/pregnantGrinHmm.

I'm ttc now and been already looking at maternity clothes because I know I'll be in them sooner rather than later with my next one.
