Abdominal pain..

I woke up at five this morning needing a wee. When I went it was very slow and not satisfying like I had hoped! When I got back into bed I had severe abdominal pain. It took me a while to get comfortable again but was finally able to go back to sleep on my side. I figured I had just left it too long to go for a wee. When I got up at seven I was still tender but started the day as normal and gradually the pain got worse to the point where I could barely move. I had to call my friend to take the kids to school and my hb had to come home from work.
After a few hours and a drink of hot water the pain subsided but I still went in to get checked by the triage nurse. All obs were fine and baby has been wriggling lots (30 + 1). They sent urine sample off just in case but she seemed to think it was muscular spasm which I agree with as this is what it felt like. I am not one to make a fuss but I was in absolute agony.

I just wondered if anyone else had had anything like this?

Thanks x

Hi, I'm 19+5 (3rd DC) and I have had this a few times. I was convinced it was a UTI but the urine samples came back neg.
I've mentioned it to the midwives but they don't seem overly concerned, they said maybe muscle pulling and ligaments but it feels more bladder related.
I woke with a very full bladder this morning and after I had emptied it I had the same feelings again after about a hour they disappeared this time.
I found that drinking lots of water helps. if I am not drinking enough water I can sometimes feel like its going to start but I up my fluid intake and it subsides.
A few weeks ago (the first time I got it) it was very painful and struggled to stand up straight. Like you I'm not usually soft and just get on, but it was very painful.

I took two plain anadin and I laid on my side until it faded away and managed to go back to sleep. In the morning it had gone.
The next day it was my antenatal and the heartbeat was all ok, it put my mind at rest.

I can describe it like a pains and a stitch like feeling in and around bladder area.

It will be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks Henny. Glad to know it's not just me. I feel much better today. Yesterday I felt like I'd been run over even though the pain subsided. Here's hoping it doesn't come back!
